Capable of throughput up to 6,000 Mb/s, the Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 Wi-Fi Router from Netgear supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), a wireless standard that allows for faster Wi-Fi speeds, more simultaneous upload and download streams, and greater energy efficiency for battery-powered wireless clients than previous Wi-Fi standards.
Equipped with four internal antennas, five 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet LAN port, one 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet WAN port, and a pair of USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, the Wi-Fi 6-enabled Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 supports OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) and multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output) to deliver faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). The router also boasts a Smart Connect feature that selects the best Wi-Fi band for your devices, allowing for a single network name for both wireless bands, as well as voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

While not doing miracles through concrete walls, there is definitely an improvement. The devices connected directly through Ethernet on it feel like I’m connected directly to the modem.

Now up and running, the Nighthawk is great. All my devices are running faster and more smoothly than when they were connected to our old router. However, I did have some difficulty with the initial setup. The directions did not clearly state that the cell phone with the Nighthawk app had to be cellular data off, Bluetooth off, and local hot spot off. Also not clear was that the old router network had to be shut off after switching internet connection to the Nighthawk. Finally, one of my devices (PC) did not “see” the Nighthawk and I had to conclude on my own that the lap top needed the latest wireless driver to connect to the Nighthawk network. So all in all the router is great, but having a more detailed setup check list would have saved me hours of work.

This device has totally eliminated my wifi coverage issues. My ISP router is located on 2nd floor of my house, was receiving extremely poor signal in the basement (man cave). I tried a costly extender from my ISP, but this did not solve the problem. With the EAX80, I can now stream seamlessly. Beautiful!

Have only Had it set up for a short time and hooked it up to a gig survice to run all of my smart home devices. The Nighthawk CAX80 works great and I will be ready for any new technology that is coming out. Modem / Router combo is good for a small home and would sujest that if your home is large to look into just a modem with a mesh router like the Orbi AXE11000 Quad-Band WiFi 6E Router(RBRE960) to get the most out of your providers internet and covrage
