Help ensure that your home is fully covered by high-speed wireless network access with the Orbi AX4200 Wireless Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System from Netgear. This Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) mesh system includes a router and one satellite that are each designed with six high-powered antennas to provide up to 1800 Mb/s of bandwidth to connected devices through the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, covering up to 5000 square feet. A dedicated 5 GHz connection allows the Orbi router and satellite to transfer data to each other at up to 2400 Mb/s. In total, that’s about 4x the speed of 802.11ac, delivering smooth 4K video streaming and online gaming experiences. The router has three Gigabit Ethernet ports, while the satellite has two, allowing you to connect wired devices such as smart TVs, game consoles, computers, and more. Use the Orbi app to quickly configure and manage the devices, including setting up a guest network login. You can also use Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to issue voice commands.

Mostly works well, but I have several devices that are connected to the satellite router instead of the primary router. This is despite being about 50ft closer to the primary and clearly seeing a stronger primary signal than satellite signal. I’m unable to force them to connect to the primary. For a system this expensive, I expect the primary and satellite router to have better traffic management intelligence that connects devices to the correct router, or the ability to force devices to connect to whichever router I choose.

Once I talked to a Service Rep at Netgear and learned how to set the modem and Orbi up, everything works great. The only improvement I could suggest is to add ethernet receptacles on both the main unit and satellite unit – one each would be good.

We had an eight year old NETGEAR router that had finally given up. We added several devices and had a poor connection to our outside ring camera and our outside Alexa Echo. We always liked NETGEAR, so we looked at the Orbi Mesh system. We couldn’t be more pleased with the way it is performing. Great connectivity throughout our 3000 square foot house and outside in the back yard. Even the ring camera on the outside brick has a full signal, and is extending battery life. I recommend the Orbi system for anyone looking to upgrade their wifi router. We currently have about 25 devices connected to it, and none of them have any issues staying connected.

Working great so far, got the router 2 satellites on my first floor and it resolved issues I had working from the second story, on the complete opposite side of where the modem is located in my house (about 50 feet away). The speed is also faster than my previous router (Netgear Nighthawk from 3 or 4 years ago), I’m getting 350 Mbps at 50 feet from the router, where I could only get 20 or less before with a very low signal. So great product so far! I hope it lasts for years as it’s fairly expensive but definitely solved the issue for my house.
