Help ensure that your home is fully covered by high-speed wireless network access with the Orbi AX4200 Wireless Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System from Netgear. This Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) mesh system includes a router and one satellite that are each designed with six high-powered antennas to provide up to 1800 Mb/s of bandwidth to connected devices through the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, covering up to 5000 square feet. A dedicated 5 GHz connection allows the Orbi router and satellite to transfer data to each other at up to 2400 Mb/s. In total, that’s about 4x the speed of 802.11ac, delivering smooth 4K video streaming and online gaming experiences. The router has three Gigabit Ethernet ports, while the satellite has two, allowing you to connect wired devices such as smart TVs, game consoles, computers, and more. Use the Orbi app to quickly configure and manage the devices, including setting up a guest network login. You can also use Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to issue voice commands.

Orby was super easy to set up everything worked as it should I use the satellite nodes to plug other items in directly they don’t have Wi-Fi. Coverage was great speed OK. Here’s where the problems come in for parental control there is an annual or monthly fee. Also there was no way to limit device data traffic, for instance gaming computers or VR headsets take a lot of traffic without being able to limit the traffic things like your TVs buffer while you’re trying to Stream movies. Also setting up a schedule for Internet to turn off at certain times seem to be difficult. When contacting Orby with these issues they said they were aware and working on future implementation. But because of these limiting factors I had to switch brands which cost more up front but don’t have annual fees. So if you’re looking for a product I don’t care much about having total control over data limits schedules this is your product and if you have children I don’t mind the annual fee for parental control this will work great for you also.

Most of this has been a good fit. I wish we had known in advance that the connection with LG TVs is touchy. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I haven’t found a good fix online though it seems I am not alone in this struggle.

After doing research on what kind of router would work best with my fiber internet, I settled on the NETGEAR Orbi. After an initial issue with the router not staying connected, I was able to get the mesh system set up through my house without any problem. The app has been great to work with, and gives me regular updates on devices that connect, and with the security trial that is offered I feel confident that my network is secure. And with the extra satellite routers I have yet to find a dead spot in the house. If I had to list a con, it is the actual size of the units, they are larger than the other mesh router systems that I had looked into, but I cannot find any issues with the performance of the Orbi system. I would recommend this system to anyone with a need for quality mesh router.
