Help ensure that your home is fully covered by high-speed wireless network access with the Orbi AX4200 Wireless Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System from Netgear. This Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) mesh system includes a router and one satellite that are each designed with six high-powered antennas to provide up to 1800 Mb/s of bandwidth to connected devices through the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, covering up to 5000 square feet. A dedicated 5 GHz connection allows the Orbi router and satellite to transfer data to each other at up to 2400 Mb/s. In total, that’s about 4x the speed of 802.11ac, delivering smooth 4K video streaming and online gaming experiences. The router has three Gigabit Ethernet ports, while the satellite has two, allowing you to connect wired devices such as smart TVs, game consoles, computers, and more. Use the Orbi app to quickly configure and manage the devices, including setting up a guest network login. You can also use Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to issue voice commands.

Works well, but I have several devices that are connected to the satellite router instead of the primary router. This is despite being closer to the primary and clearly seeing a stronger primary signal than satellite signal. I’m unable to force them to connect to the primary. For example, my backyard cameras keep choosing the satellite which is 50-70ft away on the other side of the house instead of the primary router which is 10-30ft away behind a single wall. For a device this expensive, I expect the primary and satellite router to have better traffic management intelligence that connects devices to the correct router, or the ability to force devices to connect to whichever router I choose.

This mesh system started off working well. I was replacing an older Asus router and repeater hoping to get better performance. For the first month it worked great, with only a minor issue when setting the system up. As soon as the trial network protection subscription service ended it seems like the system is designed to start giving you problems. Even though nothing has changed my wireless devices now keep disconnecting from the network. This makes streaming video to my TV aggravating. The internet connection is steady on my PC connected to the ethernet cord so its not the ISP. When searching for this issue is turns out a lot of people seem to have the same issue. I wish I would have seen those posts when I initially did my research.

Overall, I’m very pleased with my Orbi WiFi 6 System. It was a bit difficult to set up and had IT help and support was not helpful first time through and after a promise of a call back which didn’t happen called again and got through after a couple of hours on hold. So be prepared. Thereafter the system has been very stable and really amped up our WiFi throughout my home/office and eliminated spotty service and smooth Zoom conference calls. I’d give the product a 10 and the Netgear service a 5.

Have had installed for about a week now and I have 2 upstairs and one downstairs. Due to a power substation being right next door we have no cell service. We rely on wifi for calls and stuff. The range on Orbi is amazing. I have at least 150 feet in all directions even outside my house.
