Expand the coverage of your Orbi Pro Router with the Orbi Pro AC3000 Wireless Tri-Band Gigabit Add-On Satellite Access Point from NETGEAR. This access point supports the 802.11ac network standard and operates a single 2.4 GHz frequency and dual 5 GHz frequencies offering maximum wireless data transfer rates of up to 3000 Mbps. In addition to wireless connectivity, clients can connect to any of the four Gigabit Ethernet ports for a reliable wired network connection.
Setup is simple. Just plug in the Orbi Satellite Access Point and it automatically connects to the nearby Orbi Pro Router. Once connected, this access point expands wireless coverage by up to 2,500 square feet while offering 3 Gbps AC Wi-Fi speeds. The Orbi Access Point even comes with wall- and ceiling-mount screws for easy installation.

I like the fact that I can have just one SSID for the entire house. This wasn’t possible with WiFi extenders. I also like the feature where I can assign a DHCP address for a specific MAC address.

Upgraded from R8000 which worked good but didn’t provide enough coverage and the speed was slow. Easy setup and configuration with the Orbi RBR50 router and satellite. So far so good, WiFi coverage is much better and the speed has improved dramatically. Very pleased with the performance.

Smooth integration to existing Orbi system, I already had 4 units, this is the fifth before it goes out of production (original system). Directions are clear, simple. What easy integration takes is a bit of patience. AND, you should place your unit in the desired location before startup so the configuration of the network relays is simple. the instructions are not clear on this, only hint at it.

I had an old router and was paying a premium for Spectrum fast internet. We were always having to rest the modem and router do to “unstable internet connection” during online meetings or dropped meetings (my wife and I both work from home). We had Spectrum come out and test our speeds and found we were only at 1/3 the speed we were paying for. They told us it was the router. I installed the ORBI Mesh system with 1 satellite for my 3000 square foot home. It was as simple as following the instructions and 15 minutes later I had triple the speed that we had prior to installing with no “unstable connection” and no drops so far. I have high speed Comcast at home. I was getting about 220Mbps in my living room, and had to buy a repeater to even get a connection in my bedroom. I was also using a Powerline adapter so that I could connect my desktops to the Network, and through that I was getting capped at around 50Mbps. With the Orbi setup, I have 270+ Mbps throughout the house my yard, as well as my wired desktops (connected to the Orbi satellite router). I didn’t even realize my Internet went that fast.

I would LOVE to get the AX variant however this will last me for quite a while even with 27 (7 are wired) devices running, it’s FLAWLESS! Speeds are consistent across all devices. The best part is that the satellites have wired ports for seem less connectivity. Orbi App very easy to use and user friendly even if you’re not so “savvy”. If you have more devices or gigabit or better internet speeds I would recommend the AX upgrade variant for the wifi 6 capability and it handles more devices. Hands down though, I am a HUGE Netgear guy and would not use anything else for my network!

after reading reviews and not happy with what the competition had, i read the specs in device capacity and range. tried an orbi duo, which seemed sufficient, but after more research, saw the pro and read how it compared to synology and with some helpful insight from another user, tried it out and I have to give netgear an applaud, dam good. the house has a massive floorplan with 2nd floor. worst scenario, might have to get another satellite, however, the speeds, device capacity and range, not to mention the EASE of setup and adding offline device back to router, Hey Netgear, im impressed. Very impressed. i needed something that can support nearly 24/7 streaming (my parents). nicely done.

The RBS50Y was delivered as expected. If it had PoE that would have been nice then a person could have hooked up devices at a remote location to get a WiFi signal instead thinking about obstructions
