You really don’t have much choice of products. The Nova Comet II lathe extension works, it requires some proficient dialing-in to work flawlessly. as far as working, I just turned a full length hickory cane and it was excellent.

Attaching this extension was awkward, difficult and frayed my nerves. This isn’t anegative criticism, because there are four large bolts in tight quarters with little space for the required hex wrench to turn. My negative criticism is that the extension was poorly cast and did not fit properly. After more than three hours of adjusting, filing and sanding I finally have a smooth transition on the inside of the rails, but the outside is 1/8″ more narrow that the bed on the front side and 1/4″ more narrow on the back side, but I’m okay with the looks because the inside lines up and the tail stock slides back and forth smoothly and easily.
