This chuck is a well constructed high-quality product. It comes with an Allen-wrench for the screws and two bars for tightening and loosening the chuck. It takes three hands to tighten and loosen, but that works for me.

I NOW HAVE THREE OF THESE CHUCKS AND HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THEM. ONCE YOU GET USE TO THE TOMMY BARS FOR ADJUSTMENT, THEY ARE AN EXCELLENT CHUCK.

Bought this for my Dad on Father’s day and I heard from my brother that he was happily showing him all the different things that it could do. I’m pleased with his happiness and can’t wait to see what he makes. Shipping from Home Depot went great too.

Love it. Holds great. Small jaws. Might have spent a few more on the next level up as this unit has 2 bars to tighten instead of a single one handed key operation like in the next one.

Thought this is what I needed. But it will not accept the adapters that NOVA sells to fit my lathe. I had to return and get the G3 chuck ($20 more) that will accept the adapter. They make it very difficult to figure out what exactly you need. Overall very well engineered and well made, just doesnt accept the adapters.

It would be better if it had a wrench to set the jaws instead of two pins but so far it works well.

First, the Nova Precision Midi Chuck works great and I highly recommend it! However, all first time chuck users, Please Read This to avoid confusion! This was the first lathe chuck I ever purchased; an absolute first time user. Upon receipt, with no experience, I first read the instruction manual from beginning to end. Upon trying to follow The directions, I could not get the chuck to function correctly, and I had no idea why. With mounted frustration, I turned to YouTube. Thanks to a gentleman’s video, I was, finally, able to figure it out. The instructions state to close the jaws with the “Allen wrench.” That step is incorrect. The chuck came with an Allen wrench for the screws on the jaws and one for the set screw. The Nova Precision Midi Chuck does not come with an Allen wrench for the scroll action. Specifically, the instructions state: “… Repeat this on the remaining three jaws, now using the Allen key scroll all jaws towards middle until they all come together.” Since there are first time chuck users, like myself, who depend on clear and concise instructions, the instructions for the Nova Precision Midi Chuck should state: “… Repeat this on the remaining three jaws, now using the two Adjustment Levers scroll all jaws towards middle until they all come together.” There is a physical difference between using an Allen key and using two Adjustment levers! If the instructions had used the correct terminology, I would have been up and running in seconds, as opposed to scratching my head for an hour! I hope this helps another first time user!!!
