NOVA IDNS 1 in. 8TPI Chuck Insert/Adaptor allows you to ‘adapt’ your Insert Type NOVA Chuck to a 1 in. 8 Wood Lathe. Allows you to keep the same chuck and accessories if you change your wood lathe – you only need to change the insert/adaptor. The internal thread is 1 in. 8 and the external thread matches the NOVA insert type chucks, to simply and easily screw into the back of your NOVA Insert Type Chuck. This then makes your NOVA insert type chuck ready to attach to your 1 in. 8 threaded wood lathe spindle. Precisely machined from 1045 high tensile steel. Well machined from hardened metal. Was in OEM NOVA package. Easy to install, the NOVA chuck runs true with threaded insert. Was shipped free to local home depot, and convenient pickup from locker at store.

This insert adapter serves its purpose, but it does not have a locking set screw like some other adapters do. The set screw is important for use on reversing lathes to keep the chuck from possibly unscrewing. The adapter works, but keep an eye on it when using reverse. You can get a set screw adapter for about the same price. I didn’t notice the lack of a set screw when I ordered it.
