Power PDF 3.0 Advanced from Kofax creates secure PDF files from your scanner as well as print commands from Microsoft Office, Corel WordPerfect, and other supported programs. You can drag and drop multiple pages from a source document or select areas of text to add them to a PDF file. In addition to the features in Standard Power PDF 3.0 version, the advanced edition comes with DocuSign for embedding electronic signatures to your documents as well as Microsoft Active Directory Rights Management Services support for securing documents with 128-bit or 256-bit AES encryption.
New in Power PDF 3.0 is compatibility with the industry standard PDF 2.0 format, which allows your PDFs to be viewed in nearly all PDF readers. For a more efficient workflow, documents can be created and edited in real time together in Power PDF. Other notable features include the ability to combine all open documents into a PDF with one click, embed MP4 video files, edit right-to-left text, and more.

Bought this after much research to work with a Brother ADS 2800W network scanner. I am digitizing a bunch of file cabinets. Needed a standalone networks document scanner that would save scans directly to a Qnap NAS. From there, a networked PC to process automated OCR to create searchable PDF when new scans are detected. This way I can perform batch scanning to image PDF using the networked scanner without the slowdown of a scan-by-scan OCR via a PC/Mac. Power PDF Advanced does the job pretty amazingly well. Very accurate so far. Just FYI, only the Advanced version has a Watched Folder option that automates the OCR process to convert image PDF to Searchable PDF. The alternative software that has automated OCR Watched/Hot Folder option is the ABBYY Fine Reader Corporate version at about 2.5-3X the price. Great product for my application and very affordable.

Not as intuitive as Adobes *.pdf program, but for a fraction of the price, it is a bargain.

I have been using this product for over 10 years, under the name of Nuance. I have found the program to be stable and without the drama of Adobe. If you have used Nuance PDF products, this will not be something new to learn. It’s the latest update of the series; Nuance sold the program to Kofax. In fact, when you check out the installed directory, you will find that the main program is Nuance Power PDF; it looks like the programmers didn’t change the base exe file for compatibility. The splash screen does show Kofax, though.

First off, BH shipped the item really fast. However, BH chose to use an envelop and the box is totally crushed. Fortunately, the DVD survived. On the back of the DVD envelop, it tells you to download from their website if you don’t have DVD-ROM. However, the site initially does not respond after putting in all the required information, which I tried with various browsers. When it eventually worked, it says the download limit has been exceeded, even though I did not download one single copy. When I called the number on the page, after spelling my name multiple times, give my email address, phone number, etc. to the CSR, I was told I should call a different number, and the lady on the different number is totally not understandable. I eventually managed to install the software from the DVD, but the activation says the serial No. is not valid. I had to call CSR again and was told that there is something wrong with the installer on the DVD. Then I had to uninstall the software, and use the link sent to me by the CSR to download the installer, which finally worked. The software works as expected. This is such a terrible experience.

I feel that this is the same software as the Nuance software the only change is the Nuance to Kofax which by the way bought out Nuance. There is a newer version out there.
