The Telo 4G VoIP Phone System from Ooma is designed to provide you with internet access and clear VoIP calls. The included 4G antenna plugs into the base station via USB and delivers internet access via the Sprint wireless network. Please note that a monthly service charge applies for this access. Visit ooma.com for details. The Telo base station provides Ethernet connections so you can connect it to your existing broadband internet service, letting you use the Ooma Telo for VoIP phone service and keeping 4G support as backup internet access.
The Telo 4G base station uses large physical buttons to control basic functions like changing lines, retrieving voicemail, and send-to-voicemail. With the Ooma service, your voicemail is stored online and can be retrieved from anywhere. Management is handled easily through your web browser, letting you view a call log, block unwanted numbers, purchase pre-paid international calling minutes, and find quick support for problems. By purchasing a separately sold adapter, Bluetooth wireless connectivity can be achieved.

This is my second Ooma device, but the first that uses 4G for connectivity. As usual B&H’s delivery was fast. Setup was easy. Ooma handled porting my land line number to my account, and the process was easy and fast. Ooma said porting could take up to three weeks; the process was completed in four days. The service has been great so far and it is much less expensive than major carriers’ landline service.

After deciding on an Ooma Telo as my VOIP replacement system, and wanting the 4G cellular voice and data backup, too, the next issue was where to buy the package, and how long would it take to port my home number to Ooma. Where to buy was a no brain’er for me, and in two days B&H Photo had it in my hands. The Ooma Setup app took care of creating the account, choosing a plan and and activation of the cellular 4G add-on. The manual shows were the cables connect and what the color of indicators mean. The home phone was up and working on the Ooma assigned alt number, which I picked, in less than an hour, including playing with the new stuff. Clicking into Ooma’s online number porting service, and entering my home phone number, an e-mail immediately arrived confirming the order. I began receiving progress e-mails with status on the number move the same day, with follow-ups though the completion of the number port and my home telno up and working as the primary number. Ooma’s support people are great! After an initial phone call with questions after the Ooma went into update mode, I worked with support using their online chat. My home phone now rings on my Panasonic wireless phones in the house, and on my cellular phone though the Ooma Telo app. If you’re considering VOIP, or a cellular base for your home phone, I’d encourage you to check-out all the options you’d have with Ooma. Were I not already retired, I’d be looking at their Office/Home Office offerings for my professional office.
