Thanks to a polycarbonate inner shell, internal foam padding, synthetic rubber cover, and a touchscreen-compatible screen protector, the black Defender Series Case from Otterbox delivers three-layered, 360° protection for your iPad mini 4. Installation is literally a snap, as is attaching the shield stand to the front or back of the case. For typing or viewing videos, simply place the bottom edge of the Defender Case inside the shield stand and adjust the built-in support as required. Well-designed, the Defender Case may be used with or without its shield. Best of all, case cutouts and port plugs protect and provide access to the iPad mini’s controls and functions. I put the case on my daughter’s iPad and it is resisting falls and bumps very well. Hence the high rating. The only downside is that she is not using all the components because it can get a bit bulky… Not a big deal for us…

For starters, it takes about five hours and an act of God to wrangle this on the device. Then, if your device isn’t perfectly aligned, kiss your ability to use your volume buttons goodbye. Or rather, you can use the up but not the down. I bought this, naively thinking that the two angles would be fine. I failed to take into account that it has to be on a surface with zero incline or the iPad falls out of the base. I’ve resorted to using poster putty so I can angle it a bit without it falling. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to pick up off the floor. I guess it didn’t shatter, though, so there’s that. If you enjoy angst, blistered fingers, and looking at your device from only two angles while it’s sitting on a table, this is perfect for you.

I ordered this product from another site first and got an obvious fake. I came to B and H for the quality and service that I have always gotten from them. The price was very good and the product is great! The case fits well and all of the small flaps close well. The only one complaint is that the case is a bit bulky so the phone wont fit in many chargers and speakers with the case on. But I’m willing to sacrifice that for the protection that it provides! I have yet to have a problem with Otterbox cases. The defender case for the IPad is great although it makes my IPad a bit heavy. This is something I can live with knowing my $650 device is proctected. Great deal from B&H for the case it is about 20 more at @

This is the second Otter Box that I have had for an iPad. My first was for an iPad 2 that I used for work as a Paramedic for almost 3 year. So when I bought a new iPad 4 mini it was a no brainer to get an Otter Box for it.

This cover is bulky and heavy. Tough to operate the side buttons like volume control, power button, etc,. Touch screen is not that easy with this plastic screen cover.
