If you’re thinking of defending your 9.7" iPad Pro from much of what life has to throw at it, then it may be worth considering a black Defender Series Case from Otterbox. This case features a two-piece polycarbonate inner shell surrounded by a synthetic rubber outer layer for additional shock protection against drops, bumps, and scratches.
Attached to the outer rubber layer are port plugs that help guard against dust. A clear polyurethane screen protector is built into the inner shell to help shield your touchscreen against scratches, scrapes, and scuffs, without diminishing the display’s visibility. Internal foam cushions the back of the tablet while keeping it from moving around inside the case.
The included shield stand snaps onto the front of the case for added touchscreen protection during transport. When not needed for protection, it may be snapped onto the back of the case. The inside of the shield stand has a built-in foldaway stand for viewing movies or typing, functioning in both portrait and landscape modes. There’s also built-in storage for an optional Apple Pencil.

I just received the 9.7 inch version in the mail on Saturday. Today, I opened the box and carefully removed the case and opened up a new iPad that has not been touched yet. I was a a bit disappointed to see some “grit” here and there on the protective case and it looks like some was on the inside where the apple logo shows. I did not see this until after I enclosed the iPad. The Otterbox is a major pain to open so I will let it be. I have broken my nails on other Otterboxes I have for my children’s iPads. Other than that minor issue, I absolutely love that the case includes a stand for movie watching or just for a different angle for viewing. In reference to my children’s iPad cases, I can attest that the iPads have fallen and have been thrown and as far as I know, there is no internal damage to the iPad. I can tell from the outside that no damage has occurred! Thank you Otterbox for designing a 9.7 inch version for the iPad Pro.

I bought an Otterbox for my 1st gen IPAD and it’s still like new. This Otterbox Defender case is smaller, lighter, stronger, faster and better looking. I won’t own an IPAD without an Otterbox defender.

My wife has an older iPad mini 1 with an old Defender Case that has seen better days (my wife can be somewhat hard on her gear). Without any rhyme or reason the iPad could not be powered up or powered off. I removed the old Defender case and the iPad worked fine. So I ordered a new Defender Case which has obviously been revised and improved, especially around the power button. The new Defender Case has a beefier build and functions flawlessly. The iPad mini looks brand spanking new at a fraction of a full replacement cost. Long story short: happy wife.

Had to get a case for my new iPad Air I got for Christmas. Started to look at the Apple Smart Case but the reviews mostly said it would stand on its own. So when I got a B&H email promoting this case and already having an Otter Box case for my iPhone 5s that I really like, I had to research it. It looked good and the built in stand in the cover was just what I was looking for. After finally getting my hands on it I started the assembly process. The protective case was a challenge installing to say the least. Trying to keep dust out while putting the case over my iPad was a trial in frustration. Once the case is on, it’s a bear to get off. I had to put it on and off several times while using a lens blower and a lint free rag to make sure I had no dust under the cover. Once I got it all together the worst part was over. It fits like a glove and feels very purposeful. It really didn’t add as much bulk as I would have expected. The outer rubber case really gives a feeling of secure protection. The best part is the removable cover. There’s an ingenious built in stand that folds up to prop up your iPad in four different positions and down to install the cover. This definitely the best purchase decision I could have made. Very pleased with my Otter Box iPad cover.

I got this for my daughter’s iPad mini after the screen got a crack by the edge while in a different brand of case. It fits snug and has raised edges and so far has prevented the crack from getting worse. It comes with a built-in plastic screen protector that’s very responsive. She didn’t realize it was there when she was using it. I would strongly suggest buying an otterbox defender case to protect iPads, phones, etc.
