If you’re thinking of defending your 9.7" iPad Pro from much of what life has to throw at it, then it may be worth considering a black Defender Series Case from Otterbox. This case features a two-piece polycarbonate inner shell surrounded by a synthetic rubber outer layer for additional shock protection against drops, bumps, and scratches.
Attached to the outer rubber layer are port plugs that help guard against dust. A clear polyurethane screen protector is built into the inner shell to help shield your touchscreen against scratches, scrapes, and scuffs, without diminishing the display’s visibility. Internal foam cushions the back of the tablet while keeping it from moving around inside the case.
The included shield stand snaps onto the front of the case for added touchscreen protection during transport. When not needed for protection, it may be snapped onto the back of the case. The inside of the shield stand has a built-in foldaway stand for viewing movies or typing, functioning in both portrait and landscape modes. There’s also built-in storage for an optional Apple Pencil.

I had an otterbox defender for a motorola atrix hd for 2 years before trading up to a Galaxy S5. The old defender did well for me other than starting to stretch a bit at the end. This new defender seems sleeker and lighter than the old version, but I’m not confident yet that it is as protective in a drop situation as the old version — the outer unit on this fits snugly but doesn’t seem as thick as the older version, probably in an effort to reduce weight and volume. But it fits well, looks good (white inner, gray outer) and everything that should be open (camera lens, speakers, etc) are easily available. I’m surprised that it doesn’t have an additional rubber cover for the charging cord area, although the cover on the phone is supposed to make it water resistant.

I love the Defender case because of the protection it gives to my iPad Pro 9.7, and because of the three-position stand that the cover makes. I use a separate Apple keyboard which I like to be able to place anywhere near the iPad in its stand.

I had gotten the same case 2 months earlier for an ipad2 and it was ok. This one for ipad2 and 3 was improved with a screen cover, better fitting rubber cover and access ports that stayed closed. Much improved.

This case is great, only thing that I don’t like is plastic screen protector. It’s very thin, I am not sure is that good for protect screen, I already have screen protector, which is much stronger and better. And you cant remove this plastic screen protector from the rest of the case, maybe to cut off or someting. In this moment I have both, but touch is not reacting good, so I need to remove one of them, not sure how to remove this one with the case. Rest of the case is extremly strong and well protect. It’s very expensive for the case, so this should be much better

I am confident my phone is safe in the Defender case. My goal is to keep my Galaxy S7 from falling, rather than just be a suit of armor. My hands are slippery, smooth, and dry. I quickly upgraded my purchase from Commuter (slick plastic) to the mighty Defender with the most sticky traction possible. Sorta like with airplanes, instead of making em stronger, stop crashes. Inconveniences, top menu difficult, usb adapter no longer gets close enough, but cable still fine. Happy–

I don’t worry about a two year old now picking it up and dropping it. There is a cover that snaps over the screen if you need for travel in a bag. You need to remove the cover for the screen though if you are taking a photo with the iPad. That cover for the screen also can snap on the back of the iPad so you don’t love it. This may be difficult of you have arthritis in the hands.
