Upgrade the memory in select MacBook Pro, iMac 5K Retina, iMac, Mac mini systems, and certain Intel/AMD-based Windows laptops using the 12GB DDR3L 1600 MHz SO-DIMM Memory Kit from OWC / Other World Computing. This memory kit features a total capacity of 12GB, which is made up of one 8GB module and one 4GB module. It also has a clock speed of 1600 MHz, a bus speed of PC3-12800, and a 204-pin SO-DIMM form factor. It operates using 1.35V, has a CAS Latency of CL=11, a cycle time of 1.875 ns, does not support ECC technology, and is not registered. Additionally, it is fully compliant with JEDEC specifications and is RoHS certified.
Please bear in mind that this RAM is not compatible with MacBook Pro Retina systems with model identifiers MacBookPro10,1, MacBookPro10,2, MacBookPro11,1, and MacBookPro11,2. It is also not compatible with late 2015 iMac 5K Retina systems with a model identifier of iMac17,1.

Same price as OWC but with free shipping, and the RAM works perfectly. I upgraded my 2012 iMac 27 with maximum RAM, along with an SSD from B&H, and 2012 feels like 2021 now.

My Mid-2015 iMac was beginning to have issues multitasking apps/programs. Since the hybrid drive it came with still functions well–speed of booting etc.–I opted for more memory. The 16Gb Ram I purchased has worked superbly. I have noticed a much smoother transition between apps and the latency I was experiencing has gone. While much of the slowness could also be attributable to the Hybrid HDD working, the RAM addition has been invaluable. I have purchased OWC products many times in the past and I have never been disappointed. I purchased from B&H because their site is easily navigable, they had what I needed in stock and their prices are always competitive–PLUS their customer service is beyond excellent! OWC has establish themselves as being the sine qua non of Mac computing. B&H had this in stock and shipped it to me quickly.
