The Data Doubler Optical Bay Hard Drive/SSD Mounting Solution from OWC / Other World Computing enables you to replace the optical drive in your Mac mini mid-2010 with a 2.5″ hard drive or an SSD. This blue anodized aluminum bracket supports any SATA drive up to 12.5mm in height, while screws and a toolkit are included to complete the installation.
Please note that professional installation of Data Doubler into an iMac is highly recommended due to degree of installation difficulty.

Laptop was reporting hard drive as failing. Decided to replace my 5400rpm HDD with an SSD boot drive and a 7200rpm HDD into this Data Doubler. Instructions could have been a little better, but were easy enough to follow. Installation really was not that difficult. Kit came with all tools necessary for job and there were a few extra screws in the pack just in case I lost one of those tiny things. Tripled my onboard storage!

I replaced the HD with an SSD and I put the HD in place of the CD player (It didn’t work). In this case, this converter is totally necessary and convenient, easy to set up as long as you have a few notions of what you do.
