Convert an old Mac SSD into a new portable SSD drive with a single unit of the Envoy Pro USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure for Macs from OWC / Other World Computing. Thanks to USB 3.0 connectivity, the Envoy Pro supports read and write times up to 500 MB/s.
Sporting an aluminum housing and measuring just 4.5" in length, this drive is intended for portable use. A carrying case is also included. The Envoy Pro Enclosure is compatible with Mac OS X 10.3 or later, Windows XP or later, and Linux systems with support for USB 3.0. Drives from select MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, iMacs, Mac Pros, and Mac Minis from Mid-2013 to Mid-2015 are generally compatible with this drive enclosure.
Please note: as per the manufacturer, this drive enclosure requires a USB 3.0 standard powered port. USB 2.0 use is neither supported nor recommended.

Although it costed a bit higher than normal ssd. M2 case, it is still worth to use it as daily storage.

The materials used for this case are superior. The item worked with my original SSD from the MAC PRO Late 2013 (256Gb)… This is an expensive case but the options are very limited if there are any at all. And this product quality and reliability from OWC makes up for the price.

Needed it to recover data from 2 Mac laptop drives (a 2018 Mac AIr and 2019 Mac pro). It read both drives with no problem. Just remember that you will be able to see the files but you need to change the permission on each file before you actually can move or open the files. That is a Mac thing.

Please be aware that this enclosure doesn’t work for the internal flash SSD drive, PCIe 3.1 for MacBook Pro Mid 2015. The pins on this item don’t match the MacBook Internal SSD board for the drive, as ANDY from OWC responded, Yes. It’s compatible” to my question related to the compatibility between the MacBook Pro Mid 2015 Internal SSD and the OWC / Other World Computing Envoy Pro USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure for MacBook Pro and iMacs. (BH #OWS3DAP4MB10 MFR #OWCS3DAPT4MB10). However, the internal SSD drive, OWC / Other World Computing Aura Pro X2 1TB NVMe SSD for Select 2013 and Later Macs, does work. In my previous review of this OWC enclosure, I confirmed that it doesn’t work with MacBook Pro Mid 2015.
