The Envoy Pro USB 3.0 Enclosure from Other World Computing is an external enclosure that is designed to house the original SSD found in select 13″ and 15″ MacBook Pro Retina (Mid 2012 to Early 2013) models as well as 21.5″ and 27″ iMac (Late 2012 to Early 2013) systems. This enclosure connects via an included USB 3.0 cable and lets you transfer the contents on the stock drive to your new drive. The bus-powered unit draws power from the USB port. Furthermore, the aluminum body protects and passively cools the drive.

Please be aware that this enclosure doesn’t work for the internal flash SSD drive, PCIe 3.1 for MacBook Pro Mid 2015. The pins on this item don’t match the MacBook Internal SSD board for the drive, as ANDY from OWC responded, Yes. It’s compatible” to my question related to the compatibility between the MacBook Pro Mid 2015 Internal SSD and the OWC / Other World Computing Envoy Pro USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure for MacBook Pro and iMacs. (BH #OWS3DAP4MB10 MFR #OWCS3DAPT4MB10). However, the internal SSD drive, OWC / Other World Computing Aura Pro X2 1TB NVMe SSD for Select 2013 and Later Macs, does work. In my previous review of this OWC enclosure, I confirmed that it doesn’t work with MacBook Pro Mid 2015. Although it costed a bit higher than normal ssd. M2 case, it is still worth to use it as daily storage.

Needed it to recover data from 2 Mac laptop drives (a 2018 Mac AIr and 2019 Mac pro). It read both drives with no problem. Just remember that you will be able to see the files but you need to change the permission on each file before you actually can move or open the files. That is a Mac thing.

The materials used for this case are superior. The item worked with my original SSD from the MAC PRO Late 2013 (256Gb)… This is an expensive case but the options are very limited if there are any at all. And this product quality and reliability from OWC makes up for the price.
