This is my third OWC 12 TB Elite Pro and I absolutely count on these drives for both storage and archives. They have been a reliable workhorse for my ongoing use. And the new slimmer design helps with my very tight desktop space. Above all B&H customer service professional assistance always helps in making informed purchases.

Solid enclosure with decent ventilation. Has a proper, full size USB connector (not one of the flimsy mini/micro connectors that can snap easily). Has an actual on/off switch (so it won’t just randomly turn on/off if you connect/disconnect it but don’t actually want to change whether it’s on/off…). Relatively quiet, and comes with rubber feet to isolate from vibrations/bumps of whatever it’s sitting on.

Does what a hard drive should do. Fast

I already have a OWC 4TB Mercury Elite Pro which is nearing capacity and this has made a nice addition to my workflow setup

I’m happy with my new 12TM Mercury drive. Reliable and I like the slim design.

No stable external hard drive. 2 times lost all data. My new 8TB drive will not work and OWC warranty and support is totally WORTHLESS, NEVER AGAIN!

Over the last few years I’ve bought 22 of these drives (various capacities) and have never had a problem with any of them.

First of all: I am a retired old guy with years of computer industry experience. What I have digitized: files; digital photos; music is about 10 TB worth of data. My preference is to have data physically under my control because I don’t trust security in the cloud and I don’t want to worry about upload download times given my awful local monopoly internet provider. Suffice it to say, Back Up is fairly major deity in my pantheon. This is my second Mercury Elite Drive — the previous was 14TB. My past is littered with WD, Seagate and La Cie drives, none of which seem to make it past three years of use, few make it past 2. Two years ago I tried Mercury: Plus: more reliable than the competition (big plus) and: an industrial strength USB connector on the drive, not the flimsy thing the competitors use Negative: Noisy — especially as a music server. But for home use and control of one’s information — the best on the market
