We have used several large format drives in the past, and this is by far the most stable and reliable one we’ve had yet. The size is great – does not take up much space on the desk top (about the size of a Mac Mini). We’ve had no issues with failures or transfer speeds. Heartily recommend this drive.

I purchased the 2TB version which is more than sufficient for my 500GB MacMini. The only thing I will criticize is that the setup instructions come with the Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office built in. If you have a Mac, you don’t need this; Apple’s Time Machine provides excellent backup, and it comes with your operating system. After going through the OWC setup instructions, you’ll find that Acronis is being offered for a free 1 year subscription. To setup your OWC miniStack, just go straight to the Time Machine setup.

There was a wonderful setup program that ran automatically, when I first connected my miniStack to my computer, that helped me partition and set up the drive. So far, I haven’t had any problems. The connection is steady and everything works well and as expected. Thanks!

easy set up, quiet, low profile on desk. Fast info in and out. No problems after 4 weeks now

Aesthetically, this drive looks identical to my Mac Mini. The unit looks super sleek when stacked under my drive. I had the 8TB custom built for back-up purposes primarily and it seems extremely responsive with TimeMachine scheduled back-ups. The drive isn’t what I would call silent, you definitely hear this drive if you’re at the workstation while it’s writing but it’s not distracting at all. Set-up and formatting was incredibly easy. The auto formatting software comes on the drive. Plug it in, go through the set-up prompts (pick either IOS or PC) and you’re good to go. Good device. Hope it lasts since I’ve never paid this much for an ED ever.
