Removing the lid from a recently-opened can can be a delicate task of pinching and twisting to avoid sharp edges. By cutting on the side of the can, below the edge, the OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener leaves no sharp edges behind. The sharp, hardened stainless steel cutting wheel avoids can contents and stays clean.

This is the ultimate can opener. Opens the metal can without sharp edges on cutting surface. An easy to turn handle, stainless steel cutting wheel and a built in lid pliers for no-touch lid removal. This is the safest can opener on the market. It’s made by OXO and has a satisfaction guarantee which translates into “If for any reson you are dissatisfied , return for repair, replacement or refund. This is a great warranty.

What a pleasure it is to use this can opener! Like most OXO products, it is well designed, and made of quality materials. It functions perfectly–leaving no sharp edges on either the can or lid. It is also very comfortable to use (ergonomically speaking) due to the overall size, slight curvature of the handle, and the large comfortable turning knob. The quick and easy “lid pincher” (used to lift and separate the lid) also works great, and is a nice touch. Unfortunately, like most items designed today, this can opener is not “specifically” designed for left-handed people (there are can openers out there designed for left-handed people though). Still, this is the best overall can opener my wife and I have ever owned/used, and well worth the price.

This can opener replaced one just like it that lasted about 20 years. It did not break. The cutting wheel just dulled or wore out. This is a very solid piece of equipment, easy to grip and ergonomic. We open a lot of cans, so it gets used a lot. Have never come across a can that it cannot grip or open. It does not leave sharp edges on the cut surfaces, so also safe for the user. Overall, a good bet if you want a manual opener.

We’ve had this kind of can opener before where it leaves a smooth edge, but the handle to turn was on the top. This handle is on the side and makes it easier to turn.

We have had a number of can openers through the years and this one has better quality and works well for someone with delicate hands.

Got this for my wife. She absolutely loves it! It’s so easy to use and no nasty sharp edges on the cans.

It’s the best manual can opener I’ve ever used. And it’s the only one that cuts under the lid, thereby allowing for the removal of the entire top from the can.

We have this type of opener before and found them awkward. This version is much better. You still need to think a moment about how to position it, but when you do it is easy to operate and, in my opinion, is definitely a better way to open cans.
