I’d never used a steamer basket before, but this OXO steamer is simple, has great features (liftable with a fork, extendable handle, folding legs) and is well constructed. I hand-washed it, which was simple, but it could easily go into the dishwasher as well.

The steamer is well constructed and features a very compact design. It will fit easily it to many size pots. The handle is retractable so that a pot cover can be placed over it for steaming then when done the handle can be pulled up with a fork so that you don’t have to touch the hot cooking surface.

I received this steamer a couple of days ago and tried it out on some fresh green beans and they turned out amazing! I love that the feet on the bottom can fold up for easy storage! The handle is telescopic so it adjust to any height! I know we will use this steamer on an almost daily basis! Great product!

This steamer is awesome! It’s a great size and it’s able to fit in many different sized pots. The detachable handle is great as it allowed me to take it off to put the lid on my pot. I am also really impressed with how small it becomes when it’s time to store it. I’m looking forward to using this tool a lot as I incorporate more veggies into my diet in a healthy way.

It has been a while since I had a new steamer and I like several of updated features. My favorite is the handle designed to lift with a fork. This helps keep the steam from your hands. I also like that you can use it with a pressure cooker but I am not sure if the black handle can be used in the pressure cooker or just the metal. It would be nice to have this information on the box.

I used this steamer for Asian steamed buns & it worked great! I love that it was flexible enough to fit in a larger or smaller pot. My only complaint – and it’s a small one, is that it was a little difficult to clean. But in the grand scheme of things, it worked great & I look forward to using it to steam veggies & what-not in the future.

This is the best steamer I have owned. The legs are very nice as they are rounded stands rather than the usual pegs and they fold down. The handle extends a couple inches and has a very nice grip so no more burned fingers or having to use a fork to pick it up. Both of these features make storage much more convenient and easier to use in different size pots/pans. It is well made with no sharp edges and it drains very well. Good product!

Packaging – no wasted space here. The box is recyclable and not overstuffed with filler to make the box bigger. Product usage – when I first took the steamer out of the box, the handled was very loose. After reading the outside of the box, I realized that it’s removable. This is great feature since I do steam items in small jars such as egg bites or puddings. Having the handle in the way makes that very difficult. It’s great that I can remove it. The capacity of the steamer is very large. I was able to steam and entire 2 lb bag of Brussels sprouts with ease. The finish on the steamer kept it’s shine and didn’t dull after repeated use. (I steamed 2 egg bite cups as well). Loved that the legs on the steamer were collapsible for storage.My only suggestion for this product would be to be a little more specific in your usage instructions on the box, specifically the fact that the handle screws on and off. Overall, great product!

This review is for OXO GOOD GRIPs steamer with extendable handle-1067247. This is an innovative product from my perspective as the primary cook in our family. I have made occasional use of it for several weeks and appreciate its handy features. This steamer is compact when folded for storage with height at 3 inches and diameter of 6-7/8 inches. It is useable for cooking pots of 8-inch or larger diameter. The legs, when folded down, extend the steamer base about 1-3/4 inches above the cooking pot bottom. With the legs down and the telescoping handle and diameter extended fully, it is about 6 inches high and 10-1/2 inches in diameter. For steaming large items, the telescoping handle is easily removed. A particularly handy feature is the fork slot in the handle that can be used to keep hands away from steam while lifting the steamer from the cooking pot. Except for the heat resistant plastic handle, this steamer is of stainless steel. This product cleans up easily after use. This is a very welcome addition to our cooking utensil collection. It fulfills the quality expectations we have become accustomed to for OXO products that we have used in our kitchen for decades.

I live in a small space with three children so I am very focused on efficiency in the kitchen. I have been living without a steamer basket and wasn’t sure it would be worth the cabinet space. This is smaller than I expected and I am able to stow it away neatly in a cabinet. I like that it is dishwasher safe and includes a fork slot for safe removal from the pot. So far I have just steamed vegetables over some water but plan to try it in my Instant Pot soon as well.

Excellent design and quality — long, foldable feet; easily removable/re-installable handle; generous diameter; solid construction. We steam vegetables, but we also make steamed dim sum, and other varieties of foods using it. This is an improvement over our old bamboo steamer. Just brush with a LIGHT coating of oil to prevent sticking, and the food comes out great! This has made steaming easy in our kitchen. Here’s a tip: To avoid burns when removing the steamer from a boiling pot, sure to lift the handle with a fork (as the instructions say), not your fingers.

OXO Good Grips kitchen products are definitely excellent quality. I love this steamer. It has feet underneath to raise it off the bottom of the pan, allowing to water to steam the vegetables without being submerged. It has an extendable handle to make it easy to lift the basket out of the pan without “steaming” your hand. It opens or collapses to fit a variety of pan sizes. Being stainless steel it is dishwasher safe, although I would recommend placing it in the top rack since the handle it plastic.
