Fantastic product and not my first OXO product. Extremely sharp and useful in the kitchen. And very easy to keep clean as the two sides separate so they can be thoroughly cleaned after handling meats and such. When I saw this one available on the market for poultry I just had to have it as chicken is a staple diet here in my home these days. And much cheaper if you buy a whole chicken and cut it up yourself. This handy tool makes it a breeze to do exactly that. My other sheers by OXO are still as sharp and useful as the day I bought them probably now close to ten years ago. Stainless steel blades these precision tools will last for many, many more years I am sure. Two thumbs up on these great products. I highly recommend. Oh and comes with Satisfaction Guarantee. If you for any reason you are not satisfied with this product, return it for repair, replacement or refund. How many companies offer that these days?

Every kitchen should have a good set of heavy duty poultry shears to help the cook cut through meats and fish. OXO Good Grips shears are well made with a soft plastic and comfortable to hold. This model has a spring hinge that makes it easier on my hands. The lock is found at the bottom end of the handle but I’ve learned to grip the scissors while unlatching it because it will spring open. The stainless steel blades easily separate for cleaning or sharpening. I’m a lefty and I haven’t had any problems or concerns when cutting fish, poultry beef, ribs and even rawhide dog treats.

Cut through the chicken like a hot knife through butter. Cleans real easy. I could have bought a cheaper one, and they might be ok, but I am sooooo happy with this one that the extra few bucksdon’t bother me at all.

Not only an excellent product but a great price as well.

Nice and sharp! the grip is a little on the large side but they work just fine. Spring tension is perfect. The clip to hold in the closed position could have been designed better but again, it works.

These sure made poultry processing much easier… and safer than using a knife. I Should have bought them sooner.

A cautionary review: I used these shears the day they arrived — to trim a pot roast. They worked great. Sharp and hefty and it made for an easy job. Then I washed them. While drying them, they came apart and one side fell on my foot. It landed sideways, mercifully, so I wasn’t stabbed, but it could have been a trip to Urgent Care. Mind you, they are designed to separate for easy and thorough cleaning, but I wasn’t aware of that when I was drying them. I still love them; I’m just careful now.

This review is for the OXO Good Grips Poultry shears, model # 1072292.After morning grocery shopping, we returned home to find these shears had arrived.By chance, we had purchased a couple of baked chickens for lunch so thought wewould give these shears a try.We were surprised how easily the serrated blades cut through this chicken, the torqueby the shears design makes cutting through thick chicken bones a breeze. Loved theno slip grips, a good design with a quality material. It also comes with a spring loadedhandle and a handle lock for safety around kids. A great product in the kitchen.

Oxo products continue to get ‘recommended’ by American Test Kitchen and after putting them through the courses, we agree. These kitchen shears are no different. What we love – these shears are really great at meat and chicken shears. They have a notch that will hold and the cut through a chicken bone with ease. The are spring loaded, so they bounce open naturally. The the number one thing about these shears – they come apart for complete and easy cleaning. Cons – they are over kill for a lot of kitchen actions (e.g. cutting open a frozen bag of veiggies), but otherwise these are winners.

Yes it cuts through bone very easily. The best part is they you can take it apart to clean. Also there is a safety lock to keep them close when not in use.

These are some proper poultry shears. I have been trying to use standard OXO kitchen shears when I spatchcock whole chickens, and they were barely up to the task. These poultry shears get the job done.I recently smoked a whole turkey, and used these shears to cut the turkey spine out and spatchcock the bird. These shears cut the turkey ribs easily. The hip area took some effort, but the shears were able to cut through and did a great job.Last weekend I grilled some large lobster tails, and after trying to split the shells with a knife with difficulty, I pulled out these shears. They worked so much better than the knife–much easier to cut through the thick lobster tail shells, and I had a lot more control and felt a lot safer doing the cutting with the shears. The large spring between the handles works well, keeping the shears open during cutting. And the red plastic locking tab at the end of the handles works great. They improved the design from the OXO kitchen shears, as these poultry shears let you tuck the tab into the handle and out of the way. This seems like a small thing, but it really helps.I’m a big fan of OXO Good Grips products, and these poultry shears are a nice addition to my kitchen tools. I will definitely use them regularly.

OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Poultry Shears – a Home Depot Seeds Program ReviewI’m fast becoming an OXO “super fan”. It’s now one of the few brands I seek out when looking for kitchen accessories. It stands to reason that when I was looking for some poultry shears to make spatchcocking chicken and tipping wings easier, OXO would be a good start. I have not been disappointed with my choice. The blades of the shears are stainless steel and curved slightly and tapered for, I suppose, better cutting ability and reaching difficult places. The bottom blade has a micro serration through the full length of its cutting edge. I can definitely say this improves their cutting ability. I’ve been able to remove the backbone of chicken, cutting through the ribs and bone nearly as smoothly and easily as cutting paper with scissors. Wing tips come off just as easily. They worked far better than even the very sharp chef’s knife I generally use. I haven’t tried using the shears to de-bone poultry yet but I have no doubt they would work easily well since they are not too large to be very controllable. I also suspect they would work equally well for cutting the backs of a rack of ribs. The handles are non-slip and are a hard ploymer used by the other OXO products I have. The grips are very comfortable to use and are, as advertised, non-slip even with fat and oils on them. .The handles are molded tightly to the blades and can’t be removed. They also don’t allow any material to get between the handle and the blade which would present a very unsanitary condition. The handles are clip-type spring loaded which really helps separating the blades after a cut. I guess this is supposed to reduce hand strain and I guess it does. The bottom handle encloses your fingers during use making the blades easier to separate and the spring enhances that action. I found it made controlling the cut much easier because the blades can be separated very easily when released. This might cause a problem storing partially opened shears were it not for the lock on the back of the handles to keep the stored shears closed tightly.I’m very concerned about poultry and bacteria and I’m pretty particular with cleaning my utensils after using them – particularly on poultry. There are no gaps or areas that would harbor bacteria laden material. The blades can be separated easily for thorough cleaning after use. OXO recommends hand washing and drying immediately. This would be no different than the care of any of the other kitchen utensils like high quality knifes that I use. These OXO Poultry Shears are very nice and suit my use very well. They’re sharp, comfortable and very effective. They can be disassembled for easy, thorough cleaning and there are no areas to harbor bacteria producing debris. If there is any concern (though not for me) it would be that they are not dishwasher-safe. This may be a problem for some. Overall, I find these shears an excellent product.

These Poultry Shears are really great and look so professional. The bottom blade is notched so bones won’t move when cutting. The blades come apart to clean, non-slip handles and a handle lock for safe storage. The entire line of Good Grip products for cooking have handles specially made for those like me with arthritis in their hands. These shears can also be used to trim fat from roasts and chops, and also to cut meat for stew. Perfect kitchen utensil.

The OXO Good Grips Poultry Shears are awesome. I love how the shears feel, how sharp they are, and how easy they are to use and to clean. These are the best kitchen shears I have ever used. I highly recommend them. They are definitely worth the extra $. The designers are to be commended for a great job focusing on both function and form in this well engineered product.
