The 6′ Pearstone Type A Male to Type A Female Extension Cable provides a reliable way to connect USB devices to your computer for charging and data transfer. The cable allows you to benefit from the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed maximum transfer rate of 5 Gbps, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0.
This premium cable features two unidirectional paths that simultaneously transmit and receive data. With a maximum throughput of 900 mA for configured high power devices, the cable is capable of powering bigger devices that require more energy. Additionally, USB 3.0 standard type A connectors are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 standard A — as long as one of the devices is USB 3.0 compliant.

It works as it’s supposed to. The connections are tight and reliable. What more can I say?

I use this with a SD card reader and it’s very fast

Needed USB3 cables to run from PC rear to front and these are the right length and worked with no lost speed. Both flash and portable hard drive performed as if plugged in directly.

Works well on our organization’s laptop. At the cables other end, has a Logitech HD webcam connected to it. laptop does not give an error message when using it. HD webcam is USB 2.0. USB hub is 3.0 on the laptop. No error messages when used.

Much of the time, this extension worked. But suddenly a random assortment of iOS devices would rapidly connect and disconnect, a couple of times per second. But other iOS devices would connect fine. The problem turned out to be this extension cable; the socket is too loose. I can only imagine the data corruption that might result from plugging a thumbdrive into this thing and having it fail during a write. Who knows how many obscure problems it has already caused.

We’ve got this connected to a PCIe card in the back of a 2010 Mac Pro and routed around to the front of the tower for more easily connected thumb drives. I’ve never tested the bandwidth specifically, but it’s never bottlenecked anything connected to it.

While the inside connected does show blue indicating USB 3.0, other cables I have purchased from other sourced have the entire length of the cable blue. It is a visual aid to have the cable be all blue, but functionally no problem with this item.

Bought the 10ft, got USB 1.1 speeds from it on 4 different drives. My solid state drive topped out at 12.1mb/s. My 3 HDD’s maxed out at 8.8mb/s. Probably a bad cable. Returned it, but won’t buy another one at that length or this brand to be safe and save my time. Especially if it ends up being an manufacturing issue.

For work we ordered close to 15 of these for use: – 5 days a week – 8 hours a day – tethered to a 5D Mark IV and an iMac – take around 1100 large jpeg shots a day per cable Within 1 week we had 2 cables stop working. The blue light stays on for both but computers don’t detect anything connected to them. Replace the cable with a new one and it works fine. A couple weeks later we had 3 more cables go bad. Some just don’t work and some work with constant disconnection issues. Replace the cable with a new one and everything works fine again. I can go buy super cheep monoprice cables and they will last longer than these expensive cables. I would not recommend these. Now to find a more reliable cable after spending over $700 on these.
