The 10 in. 5 Micron Sediment Filter System is recommended for homes with heavy sediment. This kit comes complete with everything you will need for installation. Helps protect your new filter system and your home appliances from the damaging effects of sediment (dirt and debris) build up. The sediment in city or well water can clog faucets, damage appliances and even change the taste of your drinking water. The pre-filter system filters out particles as small as 5 microns in size.
- Lengthens life of filter system and appliances
- Filters down to 20 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair
- 1-year warranty
- Includes prefilter housing, wrench, mounting bracket, screws and 1 filter
- Each 4 pack should last between 2 to 3 years (each filter lasts 6 to 9 months)
- Blue non-transparent housing prevents the light from coming in contact from the water, thus the possibility from algae forming from light exposure
- Filter life in gallons is an approximate amount, due to variables in water quality

Easy to install. Works well. Using it in front of new water softener.

I sold them to the plumber that installed my softener and RO because he said I didn’t need the pre filter and extra filters.

This is a heavy duty fellow. I used this as a whole house filter to stop trash from entering our home and plugging up our appliances. As a plumber the install is easy, it should be easy for most people as well. This filter is the classic pelican made by pentair spun poly coil. It works well, to well it seems as that is one dirty filter. 5 microns is pretty small and you will be surprised how much trash you have coming into you home. Looks good also!

If you want to have your water heater, faucets, shower head and valves to last longer than a complete house filter is the way to go. The Pelican Water 10 in. 5 micron sediment filter system is the thing to have. The shell is made of strong hard plastic and a high quality aluminum hanger makes it a long lasting system. You will need shutoff valves on both sides so you can isolate the system when changing the filter. It is an easy system to install if you have some plumbing experience.

We installed this sediment filter system on our private camping property where we collect and pump rain water for our washing and cleaning (not drinking) needs, and we needed a filter system to filter out dirt, bugs, and other sediment that ends up in the rain water. This filter system was relatively easy to install, and comes with everything needed for regular installation. The filter housing is also a very sturdy. As we connected the system to hoses (see my pictures), we did need to obtain separate hose fittings. I’m not sure if you need to obtain separate fittings if you were to install this filter system in a residence. We’ve only used this filter system for one week, but so far the water looks clean and clear!

After installation our water tasted better and was no longer cloudy looking when giving out children a bath. Wish I had installed it years ago to avoid the brown bath water from Anne arundel county.

The Home Depot provider that installed water softner was professional and knowledgeable. Me and my wife are really enjoying this brand.

This is a good quality filtration system. It has large inlet and outlet to improve the flow and decrease resistance. The kit comes with the filter housing, a nice hefty mounting plate, appropriate screws, a 5-micron filter, and a filter wrench. The filter wrench is used to tighten and loosen the blue canister, and it makes it very easy to tighten and loosen the canister. The inlet and outlet port is about 1.3″ major diameter, which is the major diameter of the threads. Water seems to flow through it very well. I can not attest to what the filter actually does to the way that water tastes, but it does a great job at clearing out the crud from water lines with high flow and minimal resistance. I am actually using this is a coolant filter on a metal milling machine, and it does not let ANYTHING through. Keeps my coolant crystal clear and like new. Anyone that understands metal cutting principles knows that re-cutting chips that cycle through your coolant is about the worst thing you can do. This filter works just as good as other “purpose made” coolant filters that attach a premium to the title. I run a water soluble synthetic, and it appears to have no effect / not degrade the filter.Overall, this thing is great. When testing it, I got great flow with just water, and it performs exactly as intended. Works great filtering cutting fluid on my metal mill that I run flood coolant on. If you need a high-flow liquid filter, this bad boy is a great solution!

I installed a carbon block chlorine filter in the beginning of the year to help my one kidney wife. Chlorine and chloramines from the water dept have been found to cause problem with kidneys ,if you believe the web. Better safe than sorry. After a few months the block filter was clogging (Pelican filters are not inexpensive) and rinsing them off doesn’t work so we invested in a Pelican sediment filter in-line before it. My advice is to buy the combination filter system of sediment and carbon block in the beginning. It’s a little more costly to buy them one at a time than to get them together and easier to install if bought in a set . My sediment and chlorine filters are now installed and working fine. The water is crystal clear and tastes great. If you don’t have a whole house filter and saw what you were drinking, you would buy one right away.

I install this product with ease. If you can glue pipe, you have it made. The Pelican water system works perfect. Good water flow from the water well remain strong . I glad I found this on Home depot website.

Bought this filter kit because of the 1 inch inlet and outlet ports and its capacity. My house has 3/4″ copper pipe so I had to use 1″ to 3/4″ copper threaded male reducers. I did not want to use 1″PVC-3/4″ reducers to 3/4″ male copper fittings due to too many threaded connections. I used 3/4″ teflon tape on the 1″ copper male threads of the fittings which were soldered to 3/4″ pipe. I cautiously tightened the 1″ male fittings to the filter housing (did not want to crack it) and installed it. Turned water on and a leak appeared at both IN and OUT threaded fittings. Had to disassemble and remove and redo the teflon tape with more wraps, 10- 11 on each. Reinstalled and there is a very slight drip on the OUT fitting at the joint. I may just use weld putty to seal it. Its a catch 22 with tightening copper fitting to the plastic. Glad I used Sharkbite fittings to connect it making removing it simple. The filter housing seems very sturdy. Hoping that it filters as well as advertised. Where do you get silicone grease? None comes with it yet instructions say to use it on rubber gasket.

We have well water at our home along with aging galvanized pipes and we’ve found our faucets and toilet valves keep getting clogged with small particles of rust and sand from the interior of the pipes which slows down the water flow.We decided to give this sediment filter a try and it does the job very well. The filter is a heavy woven style cylinder which filters out particles down to 5 micron which is 20 times smaller than a human hair. The filter lasts 6-9 months and can be re-purchased in a pack of 4 from Home Depot. The filter also comes with a plastic handled tool for removing the filter housing to change the filter and this can be stored in a specially designed slot in the bracket so you don’t lose it.Installation was easy – you just need to know which pipe is supplying the water so you can connect the filter to the ‘In’ and ‘Out’ sides correctly. The top of the filter has female 1″ pipe threads and our existing pipework has 3/4″ threads so we bought about $7.50 worth of PVC pipe fittings to reduce the 1″ fittings to 3/4″ so we could hook up the filter to our pipes with a couple of 3/4″ water heater hoses. Mounting the filter is easy – it comes with an aluminum bracket and the necessary screws. My only criticism is that there are no installation instructions included in the filter packaging however I was able to find them on Home Depot’s website on the product page to make sure I was doing everything properly. The filter comes with a 12 month warranty.
