received the carbon filter medium quickly and all in one piece. all parts needed were there and instructions clear. I had a link to a training video and that was great to walk me through it. went very smoothly.

So I purchased the media for my PC-1000 replacement media and when it arrived — really quick and efficient ordering process, by the way! — I found that the O-Ring needed for the bypass valve hear AND the blue funnel was cracked and broken. I realize the item was heavy but the materials used to ship the items was kind of flimsy such that there was leakage of the media and the cracked funnel. When I ordered its replacement, everything was packed a little better — but still the flimsy box — and I did get the O-Ring replacement. After all this, I will say that the instructions and process went excellent! It was an easy exchange — it took a bit of time — 50 hours or so — but at the end of the matter it went very well.

Let be begin by saying that Pelican’s customer service was top notch. Changing the media in a PC1000 is pretty straight forward and the replacement kit has everything you need to complete the job. But be warned that making the change is a lot more physically challenging than you might want to tackle. I am a pretty big, very fit guy and I can tell you that manhandling the canister is a chore. So if you plan to do this yourself you will likely need some muscle to help you when you empty the old media.

Its amazing how easy it is to replace your filter. I bought the system five years ago and last month wad due to replace the carbon inside the system, I got an email from Pelican and called them to inquire about the replacement. The person anwsered the phone recognized me by my phone number and immediately told me what system I had and how much cost to replace it, boy is that easy! I mean I was worried about what to order because I didn’t keep the paperwork that five years ago. And the installation is easy, there is vedio in YouTube, just following the instructions, here it is, done! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a system for their house.

After 5 years it is necessary to replace the charcoal media. I am a handy guy didnt have problems as they did make it easy to connect bypass etc. the filter canister is heavy and not easily moved i used a dolly. Also removing spent media requires a bit of manipulation and water spray and discharge. Maybe they could supply two of the hose adapters so a takeaway hose could be used during the 30 minute wash before reinstall. The two day soak is a bit of an inconvenience i wonder if preconditioned media are an option. Anyway i think many people would find this process beyond them in this day and age

PC 1000 Replacement Media for carbon filter. Replacing media from PC 1000 carbon filter that was installed 5 years ago in April. Only has 260k gallons on 1,000,000 gallon filter but calls for replacing at 5 years. Will wait to do it in April.

You need to take your unit outside, flush it, fill it with water and let it sit for 2 days or so. We live in an are that has freezing temperatures at night so I am not able to complete the process until March or April. I would not have purchased at this time had I know this.

Installment is fairly easy. I’ve only recently installed this system and as of now I am happy but I have yet to have the water tested. I will add another review when that is done.

I had my original installation 51/2 years ago, I should have replaced it at the 5 year point but didn’t happen. Noticed a flavor change in the water so I figured it was time. I called the tech rep and he sent me a video on how to do the change out; he convinced me I didn’t need a plumber and he was right. The toughest part was moving the tank outdoors to empty the water and old medium but I managed. No issues or problems; out with the old in with the new. Back to great water for another 5 years.

I bought 6 or 7 years ago no problem at all. Am very happy with it.

The carbon media lasts from 3 to 5 years depending on your water quality. Well or city water. Replacement carbon media is easy to install. The kit comes with a sack of carbon, special large funnel, gaskets, water hose connector, silicone seal and instructions. The tank bypass valves make for easy tank disconnect and reconnection.

The replacement media is a little heavy so I scooped most of it in with a coffee can until I was confident I could pour it from the bag with spilling any.

While the tank is soaking for 48 hours, put a towel or screen over the intake and output of the tank and manifold to block spiders or other insects from getting into the system. Show video on how best to move heavy tank. I used a wheeled dolly , had towel to prevent scratching, and used cargo bands to prevent tipping over.

I received my product 3 weeks ago. Relatively easy process. I presoaked the media in a cooler for two days which made the process a bit messy but no lapse in clean water.
