I’ve been using headsets for UC for 4+ years. This is by far the best headset I’ve come across yet. Bluetooth provides mobility and the noise cancelling in loud areas is amazing.

I use this in my home office, where I’m typically one international conference calls for four to six hours a day. I needed a headset that was comfortable, with very high quality audio, both inbound and outbound. And, ideally, wireless so I can move around if I need to. This headset is extremely disappointing. I did quite a bit of research before buying, and it was not cheap. But compared to my old Plantronics wired GN2000, it’s a non-starter. First, comfort: this headset is extremely comfortable with good, intuitive controls. Noise cancellation seems to work well, but since I’m in a quiet environment to begin with, that’s not really a factor for me. Audio quality: inbound quality is good. Outbound quality is bad. My colleagues have complained multiple times about how quiet the signal is, on calls. With the poor outbound audio quality as well as the regular breakup of signal (see below), I have determined that this headset is, essentially, unusable for its primary purpose which is to handle web conferences. Wireless connection: terrible. I have this headset connected via bluetooth to a brand new macbook pro. I connect straight to the macbook, and do not use the supplied USB dongle (although I have tried that setup and it does not help). Regular breakup of the audio signal on calls has forced me to stop using this headset entirely. I cannot stay on a conference for more than 5-10 minutes before my colleagues start to complain that my voice is breaking up. I am always in my smallish home office, seated in a chair with the headset 6-7 feet away from my laptop. All, in all, aside from comfort which is great, this headset was a very poor investment, and extremely disappointing. I have gone back to my old, wired GN-2000 which, although not nearly as comfy or convenient, at least has the high grade in/out audio that is required in order to conference effectively.

This headset is unusable for any work environment. Software does not support the capabilities to turn off an annoying “Mute On” reminder that is played back to the user every time mute is pressed on or off. The Software supports turning off the “Mute Off” reminder only but not the “Mute On”. During a work call where you have to frequently mute / unmute this is borderline unusable as you miss half of the conversation as the verbal notification is so loud. Called support, they were unable to assist and provided not work around.

Very nice headset regardless of the price. Has good wireless distance. Effectively cancels out noise.

I’ve tried fancy headsets from many brands. Many costing more than this Plantronics Focus, so when I got this from my IT team, I was skeptical. But wow! This is far and away the most feature rich, immersive headphones I’ve ever used. The active noise canceling is impressive in work environment, and the ability to pair with both PC/Mac AND your smartphone at the same time. If I had to design optimal headphones — this would be it.

Per other 1 star reviews my headset broke in within just 2 months of regular use. I’ve treated them with care. They have never left the desk where I use them, never travelled with them, only used for conference call. Sound quality was great but cheap plastic “sleeves” that hold the ear pieces onto headset cracked easily. Now I use taped to hold them together.

I have been on a long journey to find the perfect Bluetooth headset. I have tried so many including from Plantronics the Edge, Legend, Back Beat Go, and Sense. The Focus blends many of the best features of this legendary lineup of headsets while adding in a few tricks of its own. This headset is lightweight, sounds great, and lets me sound great to my Customers and coworkers. After buying the Sense a few weeks ago I realized that all of my needs had been met with the exception of active noise cancellation and a multi microphone set up that cuts down on background noise to make it easier for people to hear what I am saying. After taking my first flight and using the Sense I realized that the on-the-ear design was not going to cut out enough of the jet engine noise for me to be comfortable. The Sense is powerful enough to cover the noise with volume but that wasn’t enough. I discussed this with a Plantronics Tech Support person and explained that I wished there was a Sense with a boom mic and active noise cancellation. To my surprise he said that the Focus had exactly what I was looking for and he was right!! I bought the Focus that day and it arrived early today. I have been using them all day today and with the combination of the HD Voice and the active noise cancellation I have never been heard so clearly while using a Cell Phone. It connects very quickly to my iPhone 6+ and will even notify me when I am trying to talk while on mute. Anyone used to 2 hour company conference calls will appreciate this unique feature since it is very easy to forget you are on mute and then realize you haven’t been heard for the past 2 minutes because you are on mute. Grrrrrrr!!!! Anyone needing a 9 hour capacity high quality headset for conference calls will appreciate this headset. Next week I will give the Focus the Airplane test and will update this review after that trip. Stay tuned.
