The Plantronic Blackwire 5220 USB Type-A Stereo Headset is a complete audio solution for the home or office. This headset features both 3.5mm and USB Type-A connectivity options, so you can use it with a variety of computers and mobile devices, thanks to the removable inline control. The Blackwire can unplug from it and be used as a pair of headphones, or a headset, for any 3.5mm-compatible device. Reconnect to regain access to the remote, and USB Type-A connectivity with a desktop or laptop computer.
The Blackwire 5220 headset has been designed for all day use, which is why it features a cushioned metal headband for durability and comfort, as well as leatherette ear cushions, which fold flat for easy storage. When using them all day, you can jump back and forth between calls and other audio, like your favorite music, thanks to the Dynamic EQ. Dynamic EQ automatically adjusts and optimizes the audio settings between phone calls and multimedia.

I had this exact model but after a few years, I couldn’t get sound out of one of the ear pieces any more. B&H had the exact model and at a good price. I particularly like how comfortable/soft the ear pieces are and the sound is crisp and clear. What made the purchase even better is that when I ordered it, it said I would get it the following Tuesday. When I checked a day or two later, it had changed to Monday. Actual delivery date was even earlier — Saturday!

This is comfortable, with great sound quality (important because I listen to music via my computer, and I’m a fan of baroque and early music, where clarity really matters). It filters out background noise pretty well, but not so well that I can’t hear the doorbell!

This is excellent for those who work at home and have kids. It does a great job blocking out the background noise. The problem I have encountered is that the microphone is very inconsistent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

This headset is very comfortable and the incoming audio sounds good, but the microphone sound is thin and very distorted. My $39 headset sounds better to people at the other end. I think Plantronics optimized the mic for minimal ambient noise pickup, which would be useful to many. But the mic is tinny, thin-sounding, and has way too much distortion. There is practically no bass response at all. It’s a shame, because the headset is comfortable, and I like the USB interface. But the mic sounds worse through the USB connector than it does plugged into my MacBook Pro headphone jack. I guess I have to keep looking.

This headset works well because it doesn’t fully cover the ear so you can kind of hear how loud you are. But it covers enough that it feels private. I’ve asked several of the colors how I sound and they said it was really clear. I use The headset specifically for my zoom like meetings. I dial in via my cell phone and use the headset. I have found using the audio this way is better than with the computer audio. It eliminates any delays and or feedback. So far so good. I’ve only had it for a couple weeks now.
