Platinum Tools provides 10 Shielded EZ-RJ45 Connectors to create cables that meet Category 5e and 6 standards. These connectors feature a fully shielded design with an internal ground that improves noise immunity at all frequencies, especially at above 30 MHz. This shielded design reduces crosstalk and increases performance. To verify your termination, each connector comes outfitted with thru holes that let you pass colored networking wires through and out in the front. In addition, these connectors come in a clamshell packaging and are compatible with solid or stranded wires.

I purchased this product to be used with a HDMI over shielded CAT6 distribution system which I was installing with a new projector system. This looked like a good product and it very well may be however you have to have the proprietary crimpers from Platinum tools for these connectors to be of any use. Of course you can make your cable and crimp the connector with a standard set of crimpers however trimming the excess wire off is where the problem lied. A small pair of wire cutters couldn’t trim the excess wire off well enough to be able to plug the connector into an RJ45 jack and using a utility knife to trim the excess wire caused the pairs to short. I wish in the description there was more said about needing the Platinum tools crimpers.

If it’s got to be shielded, these make life much easier. Just forget what you’re paying per end/cable.

They work but making sure the shield is in the correct spot can be challenging. If you don’t have their crimper, it also takes an extra step of carefully cutting off the wires that come out the end of the connectors.
