The 128GB Turbo 3.0 USB Flash Drive from PNY is a USB 3.0 compatible flash drive featuring 128GB storage capacity, allowing you to transport and store a variety of files including movies, photos, documents, and much more. Transfer data to and from this USB flash drive quickly with USB 3.0 technology, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0.
As with most flash drives it is essential that the USB connector remains protected to keep your data safe. This flash drives comes equipped with a sliding collar allowing you to extend the cover when not in use to keep the USB connector from becoming damaged. You can also take this flash drive with you on the go with an integrated key ring loop.

I purchased four of these two years ago, specifically to back up digital images while traveling in Africa. I use them only a few times per year, but all four are still in good shape and continue to work after two years of intermittent use. Especially if you can get them on sale, combining them with an OTG or wireless hub makes for a relatively inexpensive (and small) system to back up digital images.

1 died within 2 days, 2 are stll alive. All three were the newer ones which have no built in LED status light. I got three of those(which do have a built in status light), all are still alive and work as promised.

What can I say… I mean you have 256gb of memory on a small stick with 3.0 and for that low price? It doesn’t get any better than this. Seriously, not even trying to exaggerate. Obviously works like a charm because it is a PNY. Don’t even think about looking somewhere else for something else. This is it for now, at least. In about 5 more years things might change with better speed, more space and smaller… But for 2016 this is the thing to get when it comes to USBs

This drive is really fast for regular things, like holding files, but if you plan on making this an OS boot drive, you have to use a live boot OS. You cannot really install the ‘normal’ version of the OS. I first tried installing desktop Ubuntu on the drive, and after I got that working (was fairly difficult) the OS would hang occasionally waiting for the drive to catch up (slow random data access, see link for benchmark) So I formatted and installed the live usb version of ubuntu, and now it works great! I’m guessing more data is cached to ram with the live boot version. I plan on partitioning the drive and multibooting various OS’s. Oh another sidenote here. Windows 7 cannot boot from a usb 3.0 drive, so you will have to use win 8 (if you want portable windows).
