Designed for media storage, use as a boot drive, or as a replacement for an existing drive, the 240GB CS900 SATA III 2.5″ Internal SSD from PNY Technologies allows users to store and access up to 240GB of data. It is equipped with a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface that is compatible with SATA II 3 Gb/s and fits into your system’s 2.5″ / 7mm drive bay, providing load and access times for files and programs that are faster than those of a traditional spinning hard drive. In terms of speed, this drive offers sequential write speeds of up to 500 MB/s and sequential read speeds of up to 535 MB/s via its Triple-Level Cell (TLC) NAND flash memory. In addition to its enhanced data transfer rates, this drive also offers a life expectancy of 2 million hours MTBF, TRIM support (OS dependent), and S.M.A.R.T support.
With solid-state drive technology you benefit from load and access times for your files and programs that are faster than a conventional 7200 rpm hard drive. As SSDs have no moving parts, they are also more durable than traditional hard drives and are better protected against damage from drops and bumps. Having no moving parts also means that SSDs receive less wear and tear, as there are no read or write heads for the drive media to come into contact with. SSDs also help to deliver improved battery life and cooler operating temperatures. Supported operating systems include Windows, Mac, Linux, and Ubuntu. A 2.5mm spacer is also included, which allows this 7mm SSD to be used in 2.5″ / 9.5mm drive bays. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year warranty.

I needed to upgrade a handful of older dual-core laptops but didn’t want to spend much per unit. These drives have been fast and dependable, well worth the price. Wish PNY would provide a software download to assist in cloning their drives though.

So it’s a drive and it works, yay. But I learned the hard way that it won’t work as an internal boot drive in older Macs, only as external. Something to do with the Macs using Sata II. Apparently this is Sata III only and therefore not compatible.

So far I have tried almost every brand and have been always satisfied with the performance which is the case with this drive as well. Since my computer ae all a little older, SSD’s improve the performance of older pc’s and laptops in a big way.

Plugged it in, bios recognized it, windows installed quickly, and everything seems to be pretty snappy. I haven’t gotten to use it a lot, but everything seems to be okay.

I’ve already had a fairly new and highly touted Samsung SSD fail, so I thought I’d save some money this time and give these PNYs a shot. I purchased two of these. Both installed with any problems, and so far both are working perfectly and I’m very pleased.

I purchased one recently to replace 5400rpm HDD. Improvement in performance is quite significant. I cannot provide any more information because I have been using it for only 2 weeks. So far I give it 5 stars

I use these 120GB SSDs for my virtual machine installs using Proxmox. VM OS installs do not need much space and these are perfect for the low power draw. Hovering around $21, these are perfect. I have many PNY SSD drives still around from years ago and only displaying 7% wearout being on 24/7. Inexpensive, quality drives.
