Designed for media storage, use as a boot drive, or as a replacement for an existing drive, the 240GB CS900 SATA III 2.5″ Internal SSD from PNY Technologies allows users to store and access up to 240GB of data. It is equipped with a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface that is compatible with SATA II 3 Gb/s and fits into your system’s 2.5″ / 7mm drive bay, providing load and access times for files and programs that are faster than those of a traditional spinning hard drive. In terms of speed, this drive offers sequential write speeds of up to 500 MB/s and sequential read speeds of up to 535 MB/s via its Triple-Level Cell (TLC) NAND flash memory. In addition to its enhanced data transfer rates, this drive also offers a life expectancy of 2 million hours MTBF, TRIM support (OS dependent), and S.M.A.R.T support.
With solid-state drive technology you benefit from load and access times for your files and programs that are faster than a conventional 7200 rpm hard drive. As SSDs have no moving parts, they are also more durable than traditional hard drives and are better protected against damage from drops and bumps. Having no moving parts also means that SSDs receive less wear and tear, as there are no read or write heads for the drive media to come into contact with. SSDs also help to deliver improved battery life and cooler operating temperatures. Supported operating systems include Windows, Mac, Linux, and Ubuntu. A 2.5mm spacer is also included, which allows this 7mm SSD to be used in 2.5″ / 9.5mm drive bays. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year warranty.

I have used many of the these PNY SSDs to upgrade older laptops. One of the best value SSDs with TLC memory. Never had one fail yet. Linux and these SSDs give new life to older laptops that can no longer securely run windows 7. Linux Lite 5.2 especially works very well as a replacement for windows 7, plus it’s free.

Very disappointed with PNY. When installing my SSD, I realized there were no mounting screws included in my purchase. I needed them to attach it to the drive bay I had. Even after calling PNY, they claimed that they did not include screws because there is no standard screw and they wouldn’t work universally. After 30 minutes of scrounging around, I found an old SSD from a completely different company- and the screws fit in BOTH the drive bay and the SSD holes! No excuses here except PNY is cheap. The drive works fine, however.

First SSD I’ve had that failed. This one was in an HP tablet and failed after 11 months of average use. It started giving read errors for a few days and then failed to boot. The file system is intact but if you try to read certain sectors, it goes off-line. I’ll see what the warranty people say as I don’t have the original shipping box. I’ll stick to Samsung after this as I’ve never had the slightest issue with those.

I bought this to replace another brand 2Tb SSD that failed after only 4 months of use. The PNY came up easily and quickly and has been perfectly well-behaved for the last week or so. I hope and trust it can last as long as my other SSD, which has been my boot drive for around 3-4 years. I look forward to a long andfruitful performance.

What’s there to say this was easy to install and after formatting works well.

Running 2 of these in an array alongside 2 higher end Samsung. No complaints, one unit is approaching 5 years and doing well, the other is brand new and good to go.

I am working on a server project and I needed 2 small SSDs to put the OS on. These drives completed OS installation much faster than the 2.5 HDDs that were present before. So far, they’ve been nice and reliable for daily use

I’d buy these all day long. I have used this drive in about 20 laptop replacements, not one issue or failure yet. My new go to with excellent IOPS and a great price. A+

What to do with a good old computer that is just a bit slow? Exchange that old slow disk with one of these. It is amazing just how much better the computer acts after adding some speed to the disk circuit. To install is super easy. Just remove the old disk, and install this one after attaching it to an adaptor. Transferring the programs and data is simple but takes a while. The easy way is to use a program like Clonezilla. First step is to copy the old disk image to a temporary disk. Then copy your old disk image to the new disk. Done and ready to use. The bonus is that you now have an exact backup copy of your disk.

PNY did not included cloning (migrate) software. When I contact tech support they recommend use free software from internet. My comment that free software my have trojans ads and required you email address, was NOT answered. NOT RECOMENDED

Getting almost a terabyte of fast SSD storage for my OS, games, and other frequently used applications is important for building a gaming PC and this is a pretty good price for the size.

This is my second PNY SSD. So far I have had no problems with either of them. They work as they should and help my desk top and lap top computers to boot up much faster than with traditional hard drives.
