Works as expected for price point. I wish it had better dust suction and variable speed.

Fits the hand comfortably; Not too tall; plenty of power! I have two other brand name sanders that don’t compare to the results, comfort and ease of connecting to dust system. The value is outstanding!

Surprisingly quiet and good at dust removal. It is a great improvement over the less expensive offbrand model it replaced. The slight price increase buys a lot of quality. Porter-Cable is known for quality and this solidly built tool is no exception. Hand vibration is low.

The sander has met my expectations.

This is a good sander would have given it a five star if the dust bag would have stay on it. It caused a big mess.

I am happy with the performance of this product with the exception of the dust collector. After a minute or two of operation it blows off and will not stay on. Poor design. A notch or some type of mechanical twist lock would function much better than what is offered. Very disappointed in this design. I will have to duct tape it in place. Same problem as with the original 18 years ago. You would think they would have fixed this. Other than that, the tool functions well.

Reasonable price and excellent performance on first project of building a mantle. It out performed my expectations for the price! I was aiming to plane/straighten the surfaces of old 8 ft scrap wood which had bowed slightly over time with a belt sander, which worked. But of course there remained very visible marks from the belt sander. This is my first orbital sander, but it did a great job at ridding the wood of any visible marks left by the belt sander without leaving noticeable marks itself. This up front work left the ripping and cutting easier with a good mantle in the end. I would recommend Porter Cable products to anyone!

As always, Porter Cable knows how to make great sanding equipment. I have had an earlier version of this sander, which I already thought was excellent, but this sander is better. The tool works quickly, and accurately, and produces great results.

Was exactly what I was looking for and at a better price then your competition.

I do a lot of wood work and work with different types of sanders depending on my need, but this orbital sander is amazing. It’s easy to change from one grit to the next and is light and easy to use. If you’re a beginner it CAN try to pull away from you a little but if you easy up on the grip and let the sander do the work, it’ll definitely get the job done. I use it almost daily and highly recommend it!

I purchased this sander because of price. I have used several other brands but were at least twice as expensive. The problem I found is the chattering effect when using coarse(120 and lower) sand paper.I have another brand and it does not perform like that.

This sander is a excellent sander for the money. It is a brand name the will stad up under normal uses.
Athena Graham (verified owner) –
well it really works well but the dust collector doesn’t seem to want to stay on.

The hard plastic dust cup does not snap on tight enough allowing dust to spew everywhere especially when it gets about ¼ full. If you happen to sand on vertical surfaces with the cup uphill, the dust will fall right back into the spinning sanding mechanism and blow it all over the place, including your face. The on/off rocker switch is so countersunk it takes a conscious effort to use it. For about $20 more, there are much better rated sanders by other mfrs. out there. That said, it is well balanced, does do a good job, and not exceptionally noisy.
