With just a couple practice runs you can accomplish dovetails. Would recommend a gauge on template gauge near turn handles to ensure distance on left and right sides are identical ensuring level set up.

The Dovetail Jig works very well. Instruction Manual is mediocre at best, but with enough trial and error very good results are possible.Be forewarned: Do Not expect excellent results on your first cuts. Make certain you have plenty of scrap material to experiment with.

Lack of research on my part left me dissatisfied with my purchase. It was not until actually using the product that I learned I should have purchased the more expensive option that includes the additional templates, specifically for through dove tails. Now I have to fork out quite a bit of money to get what I was looking for to begin with.

Best dovetail jig going. Maybe 1/2 hr to set up. If you just making drawer boxes the 12 inch is more than enough. Spent a lot of time using the older omni jig which had much beefier construction but for 12 inch boxes and under it has worked great so far.

Online purchase took longer than expected to be shipped to my local HD store, but it arrived in excellent condition. The tool is another great product from Porter-Cable, and works well. The user manual, however, seems poorly written. I learned more about it from articles and videos found on the internet. My only regret is the fact that the normally available military/veteran 10% store discount is NOT available with online orders.

Took me a few tries with some scrap 1×12 to fine tune the jig, but in a short time I was producing perfect half dove tail joints. Make sure your lumber is flat as a cupped piece will produce a poor fitting joint. This jig is heavy and well built. anchoring it to my work bench made a big difference,. I would recommend this product to anyone who enjoys woodworking.

Take this product step by step and it will be easy to set up and use. Number one complaint is that it was hard to set up and adjust. I did not find that true but as a I said “Step by step”. It worked with just a little adjustment and produced some fine half blind dovetails in multiple types of wood.
