read and followed the instruction manual; set the jig up and ran a couple test stock and then ran my original stock and the result was half blind dove tail and full dove tail fit like a glove.

It is a great jig! It’s true it may take a bit of practice to get comfortable with it. I also found that after having read the directions it was helpful to go online and watch how it’s done as well. It just made it all come together for me.

Although I have been a woodworker for 20 years, I had never tried my hand a dovetailing. It always looked difficult at best. Although it did take me several tries to get the tight quality joint I was looking for, this jig was actually pretty easy to setup and use. After using it, I decided to get a separate router just for dovetailing. Since setting the height of the bit was the time consuming part, I don’t want to have to do that every time I set it up. The rest was just following the instructions. In the end the joints looked great (even thought they are seldom seen). I know their are nicer dovetailing jigs out there, but this one will take care of my needs for years to come.

Porter cable dovetail jig was just as I imagined. Great quality product and easy to use and set up. Watch a couple YouTube tutorials and you’re good to go. Depending upon the router you were using, you may need to purchase an adapter.
