I bought this plate joiner to replace one just like it because I had dropped the older one and damaged it. The fact that I bought another identical one is testimony to how much I like the Porter Cable Plate Joiner. I had ordered a different brand that was a little less expensive but never used it because is just seemed cheap and had fewer features. The Porter Cable is a high quality machine, easily adjustable, and has more features than the other ones in its price range. It is the only one I have seen with Face Frame biscuit ability, a feature that comes in very handy for small part assembly.

I’m a long time lover of Porter Cable, but… As mentioned before, the dust bag clip is way too big and does not hold the collection bag on. Very disappointing, given the amount of sawdust this tool produces. What a mess.

This is the only jointer of this type I have used, but can confidentlynsay that it is incredibly well made. The fence, in both upright and other positions, is sturdy and holds position very well. The depth stop is accurate and allows for easy changes in biscuit size. The motor and glide motion are both smooth and the noise level is much lower than anticipated! Dust collection works very well and the fit and finish of slots are very smooth and tight. The case is a nice option as the took ow larger than some and would take up valuable toolbox space otherwise. The option to keep accessories and biscuits stored with the machine is also a nice plus. This machine is more costly than others however I advise you to think of tools as an investment rather than strictly an expense as many times you DO get what you pay for. Porter cable continues to increase their quality and reputation with me through their offerings.

Well made, great adjustability, works good on angled edges. Only gets tricky to feel that the tool is flush with the work piece when cutting into a side with the fence on a 3/4″ edge. It would be nice if the tool had an adapter to extend the cutting face downward for increased reference contact.

Only real issue with this has been the dust collection bag which is a loose fit Porter-Cable sent me a replacement (great customer service) but the one they sent is exactly the same! At one time Porter-Cable products were made in USA although mine is made in Mexico but sooner this than China which seems to have been the trend since the 1990’s.
