The Porter-Cable 59375 Template can used to rout both the strike and latch plate on doors and frames. Template center marks enable quick and easy alignment. Includes high-speed steel router bit.
- Double-headed nails ensure easy removal from door and frame
- Extended template platform provides excellent router stability
- Will rout the following size latch plates 1 in. x 2-1/4 in.; 1-1/8 in. x 2-1/4 in. ; 1-1/8 in. x 2-3/4 in.
- Accommodates doors of various thicknesses: 1-3/8 in. 1-3/4 in., 2 in., 2-1/4 in., and 2-1/2 in.
- Complements door hinge template 59370 (sold separately)
- Positive placement lock-in pins enable quick and secure placement of the template to the door and jamb

Purchased for steel exterior doors and found that the pins used to center the template are too short. I used 2 inch long pieces of 1/8 inch dowel and got the job done. Pins with kit works fine on interior doors. Instructions are easy to follow.

Used it for 7 doors and 7 jambs. Held up. The set screw on the bit is too long so it chews up this odd portion of one of the inserts that sticks out, but it doesn’t affect the job. Pin setup didn’t work for my door frame. Got a tighter latch fit by putting one of the inserts in backwards.

I bought this for my husband to use as we replace interior hollow core doors with 10 or 15 lite style, (depending on width of door.) He has used it twice. It has worked but he says there are challenges to it. I don’t really know what they are but I do know that it ultimately worked, allowing for a nicer finish than doing it by hand with a chisel. That is why I am giving this a 4 star not 5.
