This thing is a savage.. the trick in getting the longevity is do not press your weight on it too hard. The internals get too hot and the orbit does not function properly getting seized. Just a friendly tip. my second one i baby and it has lasted much longer.

I’ve owned this sander for around 10 years now & I love it. It’s a powerhouse that will get the job done much faster than the cheaper palm sanders, and it LASTS. I’ve gone through 4-5 palm sanders of most brands including Makita, a smaller porter cable, a ridgid and others and they ALL have had the random orbit part quit. They still sand but they spin and then gouge your workpiece if you’re not careful. This sander is still random orbit after all these years and still works like a charm.Only downside I see is the size and weigh, but you get quality and power with that weight, so I’m fine with it. Yeah, it costs about double what the smaller ones cost, and I still need smaller now and then, but you will get a much better sander by paying this higher cost.Oh, and I’m a contractor and painter by trade, so it’s seen quite a bit of use. I’ve just recently worn out the pad that came with it and am replacing the stick on pad with a velcro pad.

I’m a home owner and this is the third one of these sanders I’ve bought in the last 20 years. First one quit, second one bearings gave out. This one has improved but may still be undependable. Now the good part. This sander is the best, fastest sander I’ve ever used. I’m amazed everytime I use it.
