I got this one to replace a very old one and am happy with newer model.

This is the best “truly “ orbital sander you can buy! It oscillates as well as spins making it easier to get a cleaner/smoother sanded surface.

WorkIng Great for me, I bought this sander to replace my husky da air sander, my husky 33 gal., quiet, air compressor wasn’t powerful enough to run constantly. (Husky still great) I am preparing a car for painting, Im using this Porter Cable already to sand bondo and fiberglass on some areas And it feathers out spots quickly. This electric Porter Cable Sander is what exactly I was looking for to get the job done quickly. Sands powerful and fast with cheap 80 grit. Overall, if you don’t have a shop size compressor to run da sander buy this electric Porter Cable. Runs just like a DA, and very quiet compared to DA too.

This polisher has more orbital power and won’t burn your auto paint job. Haven’t used it as a sander… doubt I will. There are several YouTube how to videos that show how to use it if you’re interested.

T RO did a very good job of removing old paint. Just keep in mind to use the proper grit sand paper in the proper steps.

I bought this for the sole purpose of polishing vehicles. And it works great. Although I have experience I’m by no means a professional at it but this machine makes it looks like I am! The original polishing pad won’t hold up so I’ve ordered others. Otherwise it’s a quality tool and does the job exceptionally, time will tell if it’ll hold up!

I have used the old style Porter Cable 6″ Random Orbital Sander for 18 years building a large log home, and a lot of log furniture for it. I have literally worn out 3 of them, and always felt that I had gotten a more than reasonable life out of them. The production I could get with these sanders was always far higher than ANY 5′ random orbital, and I’ve used them all; I’ve always been surprised that a majority of Porter Cable customers purchase this sander in the 5′ configuration rather than the 6″, because the productivity is far less. The fact that these sanders were American – made meant something to me, and so when I wore out my last one and tried to buy a new one, I learned that they were no longer available, and this model had taken its place. These are similar, but slightly different, and the fact that they are made offshore concerned me as to whether they would be as well-made, reliable and durable. I don’t know yet, and won’t for a couple of years, but in terms of performance, this sander appears to be the equal of the old ones, and so far, so good. But I would be happier with Porter Cable and with this sander if it was still made in America, and I feel that by going offshore as they did, they have lost a major selling point.

I don’t usually write a review but this unit deserves to be noticed. I purchased this sander to sand a large wooden deck railing. I considered a belt sander but the weight and cumbersome handling of those units caused me to look at this sander. I have the Porter Cable 5″ ROS and quite frankly, it’s the best sander I’ve owned so I thought I’d give this one a try – I am not disappointed. With a 40 grit sanding disc this sander removes multiple previous coats of finish quickly and with minimal effort. It is maneuverable and with the added side handle is not fatiguing when using for several hours at a time. I bought this to sand weathered pressure treated deck wood and I have saved considerable time. I highly recommend this sander.
