This was purchased as a second router to use specifically with my Porter-Cable dovetail jig. It works great and as expected. The Porter-Cable series of routers are all great in my opinion.

I attached the router to a cabinet I made. It works great. The only reason I didnot rate a 5 star was due to the awkwardness of the spindle locking button. You have to reach around the router to lock the spindle. If you mounted the router 180 deg for easy access to the spindle lock, that puts the above table adjustment holes under the fence. I prefer access for the above table adjustments which is why I went with this model in the first place.

I’m really satisfied with the operation of router.

Easy to use and low vibration. Lower speeds worked great for making cabinet doors

Meets all of my expectations.

Very good tool. Using as table-mounted tool. Soft start is great, and speed control seems to work very well (I have not used yet w/larger dia bits). Need to buy the tool for accessing height adjustment & spindle-lock separately.

I was disappointed that the holes in the router base did not match the holes in earlier models, would have not been necessary to rework my jigs. Otherwise this is a great router.

Works great. Just wished they came with at least 4 collets

This is a well made, American made, router strong enough to handle hard woods without complaint. I would buy it again. One little irritation: the speed control dial is really difficult to turn. Perhaps it will improve with age.

great!

Works as described. This is my third Porter Cable router. Needed something with a little more horse power and variable speed for a larger router bit I intended to use.

spindle lock quit working within a few uses. Works fine otherwise.
Shanie Wunsch (verified owner) –
As expected, well built and handles my routing tasks easily.

It works great table mounted

Works like a champ. I can use my old 1/4 bits and buy new 1/2 inch bits.

Review for PC 2.25 HP Router. This router has fully met all expectations. It is not too heavy, the soft start makes working by hand easier and it has more than enough power for use in the router table. This will be a nice compliment to my set of routers, filling a niche where I needed more power, but didn’t want to spend over $300 for a heavy 3 HP machine.

I only took delivery of this today but I considered this purchase for the last several months. I have had two 690 PC routers for years. One has a plunge base and the other a fixed base. They have served me well but the variable speed feature and the electronic control seemed like worthwhile upgrades to have. Now I wonder why I waited so long. The control over the router is enhanced as well as the quality of the cut. I am sold. Should have done this long ago. Not so sure about the spindle lock and using only one wrench however. I think I’ll continue to use two. Can’t teach an old dog new tricks they say. I really appreciate the depth adjustment especially when using it on the router table. Much better than my old routers.

Soft Start and Variable speed work well. Router runs much quieter than my other non variable speed PC router. Only disappointment is the collet run out is more than I expected, .005. I use this router on my CNC machine so run out is more critical for accurate cuts/parts.

Nice size router, has a little more power than the 690 series but not too much more weight. I’ve had several Porter Cable routers and this one is as quality made as all the others. It has the 1’4″ and 1/2″ collets & nuts which is a plus, using the 1/2″ shank bits reduces chatter..
