With its variable-speed control (from 10,000 to 23,000 RPM), you get optimal bit speed for all of your many jobs. With the dual-position switch, you can cut the power while maintaining control of the router.

I have a handful of PC older routers all made in the U.S.A. when I purchased them back in the 80’s like my first model100, then 691DH, 690, 7539, and 7518, All are top notch and still running and performing flawlessly, I just picked up the 895PK today to use in my horizontal router table but of yet to run a single board foot through its paces but overall appears to be what I’d expect of today’s composite material made power tools, somewhat cheesy in only the plastic components but only in appearances, the first impressions are good quality along with the well machined aluminum core of the motor housing and bases that came with this kit, the test I performed of just turning on the motor and running the speed control through its speed ranges seemed good with its soft start, lower noise emissions than earlier models, low vibrations and overall comfort Help me believe it will be a good performing tool.I will re-visit the review section after a few months of use to give a better response to what I like or dislike so I initially give this a 4 star review and recommend it as of now to anyone needing a higher horsepower rated router to spin up larger cutters in a well manageable hand hold able model.

Router is great, however carrying case latch failed before I ever used the router. The local Home Depot did not stock item and suggested I call Porter Cable since it was an online order. While I had to wait on hold for an extended period with Porter Cable warranty department, they are going to send out a new case that I should have in 7-10 days. Customer service representative Keloni was very helpful, and I am pleased that this issue has been resolved to my satisfaction.

Put in Woodpecker router table. Runs smoothly and does the job. My other router is a Festool, so fit and finish can’t compare (so I gave 4 stars) but then Festool costs more than double. The PC for the price is a good choice for a basic router. I’d recommend getting a variable speed like this one.

For light use this router works just fine. But for regular use may want to look else where. I have two of this model both have needed to be repaired 3 times now in about a years time. Either the switches, speed control or the cord gets a loose connection. One has had motor wear out. I use these daily, light use, but they see a lot of run time. I would recommend this for light use.

I only took delivery of this today but I considered this purchase for the last several months. I have had two 690 PC routers for years. One has a plunge base and the other a fixed base. They have served me well but the variable speed feature and the electronic control seemed like worthwhile upgrades to have. Now I wonder why I waited so long. The control over the router is enhanced as well as the quality of the cut. I am sold. Should have done this long ago. Not so sure about the spindle lock and using only one wrench however. I think I’ll continue to use two. Can’t teach an old dog new tricks they say. I really appreciate the depth adjustment especially when using it on the router table. Much better than my old routers.

I purchased this router to go into my router lift to replace the 1 1/4 HP PC that was in use. since installing it in the router table I have built one project and this unit performed above all expectations. The switch is much improved as it slides up and can easily turn off router rather than fumbling with a rocker type that was hard to operate. Have not used it with the base it came with yet but I do like the adjustment set up to micro adjust wish all had this. I have only had this unit for about a month so can not comment on durability but I have no doubts it will last a long time. As with all PC units I own this one thus far has meet and in some cases exceeded all expectations and have only found one concern not a dislike but the plate is clear and that is a major plus but the center hole is much larger and if I ever want to use freehand with a guide bushing I am ceartain will have to purchase an adapter and I don’t really like that as all my guides a designed for the smaller diameter..
