I purchased this router to replace an older one of the same model that had a bearing failure. The router is mounted in a table and the only complaint I have is that the collet wrench that came with the unit is a stamped piece of metal and will probably not be any more satisfactory than the one that came with the old router.

I had a 6902 motor in my CNC, but I wanted a (somewhat) variable speed- This model fit’s the swap out fairly well. It’s not as loud, has a soft start- which is very nice in comparison, especially when hand-held. The arbor lock doohickey seems like an add-on design mishap, but it works ok. I’m used to double wrenching, so not a big deal. I just wish it was more integral to the design, and it locked in a tighter degree of rotation. (When lock is engaged, there is still a 1/6 turn of runout)Note: if you are buying this for a CNC, you’ll need to remove the rack ‘n pinion gear. 2 screws, easy peasy.

Nice product with plenty of power. The only downside is that the bearing run rather hot, but I am told that this is normal for 20,000 RPM device. This is my second one. The first one lasted 6 years and then the speed controller burned up — at $150 for a replacement, it made more sense to buy a new one. Customer service seemed a bit clueless and wanted me to deal with the ‘local’ repair shop.
