I’ve had this nailer for a couple of weeks now and used it to re-frame a bathroom wall. For the most part it has worked as expected, but it does get finicky at times. It’s fairly large and does occasionally require two hands to operate–especially in tighter spots up high. I have 2 other Porter Cable finishing nailers, so I wanted to keep it in the same family when I decided to purchase a framing nailer. They’ve been pretty reliable over the years, so I’m hoping that this framing nailer will give me the same reliability over the years.

Works good so far only about 1/2 a box of nails , needs lots of air to seat nails and tends to double shoot some times ! I’m no pro !

I am a newbie when it comes to hardware tools. Recently started buying tools I never thought I would need. This PorterCable combo set was priced perfectly and It wow’s me. Did have an initial bad experience with the product so make sure to check everything prior or throwing away your box. When I turned it on it took about 2 minutes to reach the 150psi range. Make sure to close the release valve located on the bottom. Compressor kept turning on and off caused by a leak on the front valve. Went to HomeDepot and it was exchanged with no questions asked. My second one is running perfectly. Never imagined having so many needs for this tool such as inflating all my car’s and Bike’s tires, airing off dust, and using it to clean those unreachable areas in addition to giving your tools power. Have not tested the nail guns yet but will follow up with a review coming from someone who is new with tools.

Not as good as the thirteen year-old Porter-Cable unit that it replaced. The shoe is not as compact and it won’t accept 3/4″ nails as the old one did. Also it is more difficult to clear a jam on the new one. Newer is not always better. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Does what it’s supposed to do. It drives 16 gauge trim nails. It will not fire blanks, like the Hitachi/Mutalbo does.

Have to get used to it compared to my last one, which was about 12 years old. Liked the loading style on the old one better.

Works great. I had a medium sized siding and trim job to do on my house and, since I am older, hammering nails or using a lot of screws was not going to happen with my arthritic hands. The nail gun was my go to option and I found this gun to be lightweight and cost effective. Never jammed and easy to load. I think that for the price, Porter-Cable should include a hard case to protect the tool so I ended up buying a soft padded nail gun case online. At least Porter-Cable should make one but they do not. But either does Rigid and some of the other manufacturers so I am guessing that it is an industry thing to keep pricing down.
