I’ve been using Porter Cable tools for almost 15 years. Though I’m only 33, I spent a number of years as the manager over the Hardware/Tools department of a big box home improvement store. I’ve tested and used a handful of power tool brands and always go back to PC for quality, reliability and value. I had an 18v NiCad 1/2″ drill but my kid left it outside in a bucket that filled with water so I had to upgrade. Up until that point, it served me well. But I knew that I wanted to switch to Lithium because it’s much lighter. Scored a deal on a combo kit that had the drill, 7 1/2″ circular, 2 batteries, charger and flashlight. CANNOT complain. Oh, and don’t disregard the kits with the flashlights…. those little suckers are very bright and useful!

Not as powerful as my corded drill, but I guess that’s to be expected from a cordless tool. Other than that I’m very happy with the drill. Light weight, easy to use, like the light. Came with two batteries. If I’m not using a dull fostner bit it’s my go to drill. Maybe I should just buy a new fostner bit.

I bought this a week ago and it has already had a good workout. I used it to remove what seemed like a thousand deck screws while replacing my deck steps and then I put almost that many back in. This drill ran like a champ and made my other drill look like a sissy! I really liked the way the chuck clamped down on what I wanted to use or even a headless screw that this feature let me back out the culprit!
