I like the variable speeds, easy to maneuver and the LED light works very nice

I bought this to use it in a CNC machine I recently bought. It comes as advertised and seems to be a fine router, and have not used it very much as of yet. I find 2 things on this router that annoy me:I have an old Black and Decker (45 + yrs. old) which still runs fine but is a heavy ‘clunker’ but I much prefer the On/Off switch on it to this new router. I find this power switch so well protected against inadvertent activation that it is difficult to push at just the right spot because of the stiff ‘rubber’ dust boot over it. When you are routing and something ‘happens’ that makes you wants you to shut the router off, I’d rather be able to do it with a flick of my thumb like my old router instead of ‘fumbling’ around with a router turning a potentially man eating bit whirling around a t 20,000+ RPM. There is a wonderful spindle lock on it with multiple lock points per rotation; but, the collet nut only has 2 flats on it. If you lock the spindle and use the wrench to tighten the collet nut, you wind up having to unlock it and turn the shaft with the wrench to the next lock point, lock the spindle again to proceed. There is not enough room between the base to simply keep the spindle locked and move the wrench to the next flat on the nut. This should have a 6 sided collet nut on it.

Porter cable is my go to for all my tools. I’ve been buying them for 15 years without any issues.

I haven’t used it enough to make a sincere evaluation yet but it seems well built.

This little router is very nice. I purchased it to mill some AR 80% lower receivers and needed power to push through 7075 aluminum. The variable speed is really necessary for milling metals using an end-mill. I did run into one issue though, only two of the four holes necessary to mount my fixture plate were drilled and tapped. I had to drill/tap the missing two holes. The embossed areas were there; just no holes. This is a very minor issue and only relevant if you are mounting this router to a fixture. Five star router.

Great router, but could use another light! Easy to handle, fits in hand nicely.

In the past I have used medium sized routers for laminate trimming and while they do the job, I now realize how much easier it is to use a tool designed for this job.The build quality seems good and the design and ergonomics are great. I can see this tool getting a lot of use, but it will not just be limited to trimming. While I have two routers, the big one is usually tied up on a radius cutting jig, and the medium size router is installed under the deck of my HD table saw. I find that this trimmer is more than powerful enough to handle small size router bits and the small size makes it especially easy to handle.
