As combo sanders go this one has to be one of the best, even though it has a price to match. With a belt drive, it has a much better dust collection setup than others having one port that handles both sanders. Assembly was relatively simple, and in use it has plenty of power. It does come with a 60 grit belt and disk, both of which are too coarse for what I do so I bought one of each in 100 grit.

I’ve had this since last year. I’m so glad I bought it. I use it more than I thought i would. Rounding corners, straightening areas, and more are so easy with it.

Started off using a small hobby grinder for finish grinding knives. As I would prefer to have a 2”x72” knife grinder for convenience, this grinder has been awesome. Very powerful and hasn’t let me down.

I’ve had this sander for about a year and it has been running great. With the purchase of additional sanding belts I have been able to cut a lot of time out of finish sanding. Very easy to change from vertical to horizontal belt (and anywhere between). The belt sander fence is very versatile. The disc side is great for adding a free hand radius or chamfer and fine tuning pen blanks to length. My only complaints would be the miter gauge took some fine tuning to take up some play in the table slots, the dust collection is a little weak, I suggest a dust mask even with dust collection. I gave it a 4 star on value mostly due to cost; it works great, but for the cost it should.

This sander has great functionality and is extremely powerful, but the dust collection system is not up to Powermatics usual high quality standards. When attached to a more than adequate dust collection system the dust just flies off the end of the main 6 x 48 belt. The dust collection from the disc portion works fine. I have spoken to Poweematic technicians twice and explained my situation but no one has responded with a possible solution.
