I bought this sander to work primarily on thin and relatively short stock (i.e. musical instrument tone woods) and for this application, the machine is awesome. The digital gauge and parallel sanding is very precise (within 1-2 mils) and is a joy to use. Run-out across the drum is also very small, I’ve checked with a precision thickness gauge and was surprised the machine was so accurate, right out of the box. I thought I was going to have do a lot of adjustments but none was required. Maybe I was lucky. If you are looking to sand large (i.e. 8/4 stock) and long boards, this machine is probably not a great choice. I had trouble with 6 ft. long, 8/4 maple and oak. Also, the machine works best for very thin sanding cuts, less than 20mils is best. Also, changing the sanding roll is very easy; previously I owned a drum sander from a company in Washington and it was a nightmare to change the roll. I eventually donated the machine it was so useless.

This sander does exactly what I expected. No snipe, no line between rotated passes, and great finish. My only complaint is that the wheels only allow it to move left and right. If you need to move it forward or backwards, you need to pick up the light end and set it in the direction you need to go

This sander is great for small jobs, but when using total width of drum especially on hard woods the drum heats up and burns wood. I usually take a .001 to .002 off at a time and still heats up and burns. The digital read out in conjunction with the up and down spindle for the drum should be redesigned, way to much free travel or play in adjustment. At times the digital read out won’t read even after turning the hand crank ten degrees it more. Digital readout won’t lock in read out after last know usage, clears itself. Should be able to clear read out manually.
