I have been loving the newer garden tools with lithium batteries for ease of use and no gas and this Powersmart 16 inch hedge trimmer is an awesome tool in my yard arsenal. I have a 22 inch trimmer but sometimes it’s too heavy for long uses and fatigue sets in. The Powersmart 16” trimmer is a perfect size and weight for all small to medium jobs and is plenty strong to easily slice and trim most bushes and hedges.It comes with one battery and a plug in charger and only the safety gard needs to be attached for initial use. I trimmed an overgrown boxwood and shaped it with ease and did a few others for at least 45 mins with no problem. It has a dual safety trigger feature where you must grasp both handles for it to power on and helps with accidental turn on. The battery is 18v lithium ion and is powerful given its size and weight. For me absolutely no fatigue using it and was able to angle and maneuver the blade easily and shape the plants any way I needed. I really love how light it is and the long battery life. For me,this is def a winner and will be using it all the time.

I only used it once but it was great. It’s not to heavy and it’s easy to maneuver. The safety feature is great and a little bad. You have to hold 2 handles for it to start. Helps avoid any accidents. But if you have to stretch with one hand, you won’t be able to.I used it on a thorn bush that had thick branches. It cut through them.

This is the first High Voltage Battery operated Hedge Trimmer, I have seen. The Blade length is 16 inches and will cut up to a 1/2 inch branch with ease. The Battery will charge from empty to full in one hour. The battery lasted about 45 minutes of trimming before shutting off. Overall weighs 10 pounds and easy to hold.The Hedge trimmer completes with a complete set of instructions for maintenance. The blades should be oiled after use. Comes with a scabbard to prevent cut from the blade while in storage – a little hard o put on.Also comes with a Plastic Safety Guard to prevent blow back of cut hedges. This plastic guard is quite thin plastic but does the job. This guard is held in by one screw to the frame.

I liked the hand switch along with the trigger, you need both hands to operate the trimmer. It cut right through some of the thicker branches with ease. It came with a brush guard between the handle and blades which helps with protecting you from cut branches. The battery charged up pretty fast as I was able to use the trimmer right away after lubing the blades as per instructions. It is fairly light weight over the corded versions I have used in the past.

This is very nice for small jobs, the battery takes about an hour to charge. It has a clear handguard that you have to attach. It seems flimsy but it actually works. It’s nice to not have to worry about cutting a extension cord or having to drag it around. It is a lot quieter than a gas powered trimmer. One drawback that I have is that it takes two hands to operate which makes it hard to reach those high limbs and also causes fatigue.

I strongly suggest reading the instruction manual before doing anything. There are good safety rules that will make using the trimmer much easier. Wearing gloves and safety glasses with side shields are very important. I found the trimmer convenient to use with the long lasting battery and was more than adequate for the amount of trimming I was doing. The weight of the trimmer was perfect for my use.

The PowerSmart 18V cordless hedge trimmer is a great addition to my yard equipment. Before my last move, I had a corded hedge trimmer… with three extension cord patches where I accidentally cut the cord. That problem no longer exists with this trimmer. The blade arm is a nice 16″ in length to allow for cutting larger areas and making your trimming time shorter. The cutting blades are extremely sharp, so caution should be used when handling the trimmer. This trimmer made very short work of the shrubs I needed to trim and I got back to my leisure time in record time. I have used chain saws for many years so I completely understand the safety feature of the bar trigger, and the switch trigger not having a locking mechanism. I have also seen the results of people intentionally defeating one of the safety features before they got hurt. I also like the additional safety guard as my old trimmer did not have it and I was frequently hit by thrown debris. The light weight, and well as the balance, makes this battery operated trimmer fun to use. I recommend it.

For all the battery operated hedge trimmers I have tried were all junk.Until I got the 18 volt cordless. it comes with a heavy duty battery a guard that covers the blades when you are finished . a nice charger. ait comes with safety features,one hand on the trigger and other hand on the safety handle. so if you drop it,it shuts off.a safety guard protects your face.
