A man, whose opinion I respect, told me a few years ago, to always buy a cordless tool over corded if it will do the job. It’s been my policy for a while now. This doesn’t have the aggressiveness of my old corded hedge trimmer, but it gets the job done. Don’t have to pull the 100 ft. extension cord out, untangle it and set it up. And then roll it up and put it away when the job is done. And while working the cord doesn’t get snagged on anything, or become a tripping hazard, or maybe get into the blades. This came with a battery and a charger. The battery charges in an hour. Can’t say how long the charge lasts as it was still running strong when I finished trimming. It’s light and nicely balanced. It has the safety feature of requiring two switches needing to be actuated which I like. There is also a plastic safety shield between your hands and the blade. A clear and detailed manual is included with extensive safety rules, operating and usage procedures, maintenance instructions, and even a clear easy to comprehend exploded parts diagram.

This trimmer was purchased for a property cleanup project, not exactly its intended purpose. The past three days I used this hedge trimmer to cut brush away from a division fence and clear a wooded area. The trimmer is excellent to cut small vines and woody material.. This trimmer saved me hours of work using shears and clippers or related tools.. The little manual was not clear how to oil the blade, just said to use machine oil; I used chainsaw bar oil and that seemed to work well but needs wiped off before storage.. All I can saw about this tool is WOW, its well worth the price paid in relation to the work it does. BTW, I would pulse the clipper to conserve battery life and never had the battery die.

This Power Smart cordless handheld hedge trimmer is awesome! We have over 25 Colorado Blue Spruce trees in various sizes and have always used an electric one along with a portable generator or did it by hand to shape them. This Power Smart 18-volt lithium-ion cordless handheld hedge trimmer is just what we needed. The battery lasted over an hour and was still strong. There is good balance and it is light weight. With a 16 inch blade and 1/2 inch cutting capacity it made our job quick and so much easier. Its ergonomically proportioned and I like the safety guard in front of the handle. This is a must have in your arsenal of tools and equipment.

Exactly what I needed to trim hedges and bushes without a power cord to fuss with. Easy to handle and not heavy. Would recommend for regular limb size trimming, not thick. That’s what a chainsaw is for! So far so good.

For me, tools are like relationships with people. It takes a while to get to know them. When I first opened the box and looked at this trimmer I had lots of good thoughts about it. It looked nice, it has a plastic blade guard that protects the blade, it has what I thought was a good safety feature and it did not require a cord. I have used hedge trimmers my entire life. For some reason I really like big green hedges. So, I was excited about using this trimmer and not have to worry about cutting my electrical cord, which I do often. Once I started using it, my relationship quickly soured. Yes, it cuts just fine. There is no issue there. Maybe not quite as good as my old corded one, but certainly good enough. However, as a safety feature the tool requires that you hold the bar and press in on a switch and then pull the trigger with the other hand. Easy enough. But, after 10 minutes my heads started getting very sore from holding both switches in. And I was not able to use one arm and trim the top of high hedges as it requires both arms (hands) for use. My old corded trimmer has a lock mechanism that allows me to lock the switch in the on position. This way I can hold the trimmer in any way that I need to and trim things and not have to squeeze the bar trigger and hand trigger at the same time. It allows for far more flexibility and I can use it for a prolonged period without running across any cramping issues. As much as I do not like to admit it, I have reached the age of senior citizen. However, I do not have any hand or arm issues. It is possible that a younger person would not experience these cramping issues or would welcome them as an opportunity to strengthen their hands and forearms. The bottom line is that after 40 minutes of use, my hands and arms cramped so much that I had to stop using it and finished the job with my corded model that has a lock out on the trigger. The reason I am not recommending it is that I think many older people will have the same issue that I did. I am in great shape but there are some activities that a person must make adjustments for or use different tools as the years build up. I think if you have a small job this would do the trick. And the price is right. But, if you have a big job to do, think about getting a cutter with a lock out on the trigger.I have attached a brief video so that you can see that it does cut just fine. And the battery was still going strong after 40 minutes of use.

I bought this great battery powered trimmer specifically for use at the cemetery at the family grave to trim up evergreens on each side of the stone. I’ve always done it by hand. The battery will last about one hour and then it needs to be recharged again. Very convenient. I’m very happy with it and it is a pleasure to use it in my yard without dealing with a 150 foot electric cord. After a while it does get heavy as it is about 5 pounds or so. Also, you need to use both hands operating this as you cannot lock the finger switch as with the electric type. I recommend this unit and the price was very reasonable.

The product worked great BUT when I tried to charge the battery the plug was not compatible with my outlet. That was a bummer and when I called trying to get a charger that would fit my outlet I was told that they could not be purchased separate so I took it back for a refund. I would recommend it but I would let people know my experience and to really check out every component of the product prior to ordering it. I rated it good only because of the problem I has with charging the battery.
