The PowerSmart brand, 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Handheld String Trimmer 1.5 Ah Battery and Charger Included allows me to ditch my gas trimmer for my biweekly law mowing trimming needs. When mowing my lawns, it took almost as long to start the gas trimmer as it did to use it. This battery-operated trimmer is ready to go for trimming around my lamp pole, around my tree, and along my back fence. I’ll still use my gas trimmer for edging the sidewalks. The power, the thicker trimmer line, and the fact my gas trimmer allows me to flip the trimming head over makes edging the sidewalks and driveway quick as easy as it can be accomplished standing up. The PowerSmart requires I bend over to use its edging function. While the PowerSmart will edge my sidewalk grass, I find it somewhat difficult to get a straight cut having to bend over to use it. The power is adequate for a 0.065-inch string trimmer. Perhaps a bit less than a corded 0.065-inch string model, yet sufficient. While the trimmer is listed to operate for one-hour, I’ll never use that long for my edging needs as 15 or 20 minutes of run time is all I need. Assembly is not too difficult, requiring only a Phillips screwdriver for installing one single screw. The trimming head angle and the lower handle angle, to include the length are all adjustable. My wife has not used a line trimmer since we moved into this house on a half-acre. The gas trimmer is too big and heavy and the corded trimmer requires 150-feet of extension cords. The PowerSmart trimmer is perfect for her, being small, lightweight, and battery powered with her height at 4’ 9”. The photos included are to share my results using the PowerSmart trimmer, grass was not cleaned up to show its trimming capability. If you are now using a 0.080 or thicker line trimmer, the PowerSmart 0.065-inch string size and power may not meet your needs unless seeking to downsize.

This is a lightweight , small area trimmer. Perfect for quick jobs. Nice to not have to mix fuel or drag a electrical cord around. This came with an edger wheel and extra string. It was fully assembled and the battery is small but charges quickly. Everything pivots, the head, the handle and the shaft extends. The string auto-feeds so that’s a nice feature. I am hoping that I can put a stronger (thicker) line on it.

It’s fast to put together and works okay. I have issues that. If you git a weed that’s a bit thicker than usual? The cut string will break and you have to keep pulling it out. I would suggest the device for light work only. You will be all day cutting big weeds.
