I am a 67 year old disabled woman who recently moved from an apartment where everything was done for me to a house with a very small yard. I had to buy all new tools to keep the yard up. This trimmer charged quickly and worked very very well. It is lightweight and easy to guide . I am quite happy with my purchase.

This is a nice little machine. I’ve used it to both trim and edge. This is the first cordless electric yard tool I’ve used so I have no basis to compare. It’s lightweight, versatile and does a good job. I like that the trigger button is two stage to prevent accidental operation. However, there are a few drawbacks. Not so much with the tool but the documentation. First is attaching the protector. It tells you to but is very vague as to how or where. The picture in the instruction book is from the top down. I’ve included a picture to hopefully explain it a little better. Second, I couldn’t find anywhere in the instruction booklet about the size of the trimmer line. The manufacturer doesn’t even show this model on its website yet. Luckily, Home Depot shows it on its website as .065. I was interested in the cost of replacement parts (including battery) but couldn’t find anything. Third, the instructions say the battery has no charge when you receive it so be sure and charge it with the included battery charger. It doesn’t say for how long. I charged mine for 24 hours. The unit itself is a good light to medium duty tool and once these minor details are taken care of I believe it will be a very welcome and useful addition to your yard working inventory.

With the exception of power generators, I’ve given up on small gasoline engines. Lawn mowers, line trimmers, chain saws, hedge clippers, leaf blowers, etc. I’ve got all of them, all DOA. The EPA has put so many environmental regulations on these little engines that, unless you run them every day, the carburetors gum up and they won’t start when you want to use them. I just threw three (3) line trimmer/edger gasoline power heads in the bulk trash. I’m tired of pulling on starter cords until my eyes bug out, and I’m too old for it. I got an electric lawn mower, and an electric string trimmer, they both start every time I want to use them, and they don’t require mixing gas and 2-cycle oil. The only drawback is the trailing power cord, which is a pain.I’ve considered battery powered lawn tools, but my experience with battery powered hand tools hasn’t been anything to brag about. Batteries have improved over the years and today’s Lithium-Ion batteries are a big improvement. When I saw this 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Handheld String Trimmer I figured I’d give it a try. I charged the battery today, put it together and tried it out. First of all there is no power cord to trip over or get tangled up in the tool. This trimmer/edger has a lot of plastic in it, but that makes it light. It’s small and the handle, while telescoping is short, also making it light weight. The angle of the plastic yoke handle is adjustable as is the angle of the power head, which is really nice. The literature says it can be used as a line edger as well as a trimmer via adjustments in the power head angle. It comes with plastic detachable wheels to attach when you are using it as an edger. I haven’t tried using it as an edger yet, but I tried trimming with it today and it worked OK.In summary, this is a small light weight trimmer/edger. It’s not commercial grade or even heavy duty, but for small lawns it is just fine, and its particularly good older people or smaller people, but if you have a lawn the size of the King Ranch, this is definitely not the tool for that job.

This Powersmart 18 volt cordless trimmer comes with it’s own battery and charger. The instructions were not very clear but I managed to put it together in forty minutes in spite of that. I used it to edge the mondo grass in my front yard and it was lightweight(6.6 lbs) ,easy to handle and cut well. It does vibrate about the same as other trimmers I have used. It is noisy but no more so than other trimmers that I have used. It has a two year warranty. The price is quite reasonable as well. I recommend this trimmer.
